Ok thanks for clearing that up... Been fast is natural, unless you work on it in which case you'll eventually get faster unnaturally. :huh
Hand speed is just a natural talent. Sure you can make yourself faster, but it's impossible for a guy like Margarito to ever make himself as quick as Mosley.
Wow, Einstein's General Theory of Relativity now has competiton for being the most insightful piece of science ever written!
It is true. Guys like Margarito and Pavlik...they are..well...snails. Logically, they can never have great speed. It just never happens like that.
I'm not a scientist. They just ain't quick. I've never seen anybody go from that p4p level of speed to having handspeed that would be the equivelent of Mosley. I'm sure you can make slight improvements with explosive drills...but its unrealistic to attain those kinds of results. Can you think of any examples where this has happened?
Aside from Carl Thompson's whos overall career I'm not familiar with... I hadn't noticed them get faster...personally. If they did it must have been pretty marginal.
Compare Hopkins handspeed now, to his early fights.... Its almost like watching a different fighter. Watch Gatti- Robinson, then watch Gatti-Ward or Gatti-Millett Watch Hatton in any of his recent fights then watch his fight with mallinaggi. Early Carl Thompson one shot swinger.... Thompson-Rochigianni 1, rapid combination punching. Speed is entirely relating to the type of training a fighter goes through and what they feel comfortable with.
Example: Talent meaning speed. Natural talent fighter, age 20, speed 80 Normal fighter, age 20, speed 50 After 5 years when BOTH fighters have been trying to improve their hand speed training hard. Natural talent fighter, age 25, speed 120* Normal fighter (now faster) age 25, speed 80-90 You can always improve in any area if you try hard but some people have that natural advantage over other people.
atsch It's like anything, working hard only takes you a certain part of the way. If you just naturally have slow hands like Margarito, you're never going to train yourself to be as quick as somebody like Judah. Just like some people have natural power that others will never have.
