Mosley did a Hopkins last night. He looked as close to his prime as possible for his advanced years. I've never seen the Mosley of late put everything together like he did against Margarito. Everything fell into place. His timing looked completely off against Mayorga. Probably due to the awkward style of Mayorga coming from all angles, combined with Mosley having an off night. He hardly threw any combinations throughout that particular fight. Lacklusture and unconvincing.

What impressed me the most last night was the combinations and speed. Margarito presented him with a target all night. Constantly marching forward, no feints, no head movement, no lateral movement. Very basic regarding everything he done. Margarito has always relied on his chin, strength, power, and also so much on being persistent.

It's good to see Mosely getting some love...albeit after the fact/fight. Where was the support before the fight, gents?

    Gotta love it...

I don't know alot about who he trains, but I'm thinking just his son, Rock Allen, and maybe some nephews.
I'm thinking that may change though...Looks like a very good old school strategist. Right out of the forties.
What is old... is new again. huh?

So is Mosley isnt he? Hell Mosley weighed 160 for LW fights  Mosley was more dominant against Marg though than Duran was against Barkley, apples and oranges really

He is. But it's not particularly "natural" weight, it's from years of packing muscle on all the way back from him being a bodybuilder in high school. Steroid assisted if you want to go down that route as well.

Hardly the LHW size that Mayorga and Margarito both naturally are.

Barkley was probably closer to light heavy. Point is, Duran is a smaller man than Shane and Barkley is larger than Margarito -and not by a little.

May Shane rule the welterweights for as long as he wants to. He's a class act, and this ko rivals Pacman for fight of the year.

Well Mosley wasn't exactly the small man who got pushed around in there, he was the strong *******. I want to see Mosley-Cotto 2.

Yeah, there's a difference between size and strength though. Or even functional strength at that. Margarito's never really had to use functional strength in the ring because of how straight up big he usually is.

Mosley last night was actually being tactically strong instead of just being oppressive with his size, leaning on Margo, etc.

Fighters didnt have 36hour weigh ins to rehydrate back then so Barkley wouldn't have been able to put 15lbs of weight on like modern fighters. Duran himself by that stage wasn't a LW anymore he was a 160lber and couldnt fight at 154, he was podgy but not that podgy, he just wasn't that strong at the weight, Barkley was huge and strong at the weight

While Duran-Barkley was impressive, it gets overplayed, Duran would get shutout by Leonard in his next fight and Barkley would be beat by Nunn and taken out in 1 by Benn.

The MD in the Nunn/Barkley result was ridiculous. Judges must of really hated Nunn's show boating and casual style.

You'd be generous if you gave Iran 4 rounds in that entire fight.

I dunno man, the backlash agianst Nunn by Arum was over the top, but i thought Nunn fought really lazily and got tagged way too much, while going large chunks of the fight with throwing any quality punches.a solid competitive 7-5 sort of deal, albeit made that close by Nunn more so than Barkley.

Yes but both fighters are pretty much maximising functional weight, Mosley's weight is solid ripped strong muscularity, Margairto's is his height reacher and a lesser muscularity. A shorter man isn't necesarily the smaller man in there though. Mosley is a hell of allot stronger and more explosive, he supposedly benches 350lbs, and deadlifts 500lbs, those are some huge numbers for a 147lber (for the record Tyszu another strong believer in weight lifting, had a bench of 275lbs, Hattons around 200lbs)
