Does Shane Mosley Have A ATG Chin?

Exactly. I don't see how getting knocked down can make you not have a great chin.
Plenty of great fighters with great chins have been knocked down and even stopped. If your balance is ****, your getting knocked down no matter how good your chin is.

 

There are guys without ATG chins who have never been down...

 

Probably. He's taken punches from DLH, Cotto, Margo, Vargas, Mayorga, Forrest and Winky and only dropped once, by Forrest, and that only gave him a chance to display his amazing recuperative powers.

The headbutt started things off, so I think you could put it down to that. He got stunned by the foul and then took a load of punches....but if it hadn't been for theheadbutt, he wouldn't have taken so many clean shots. Considering that's the only time he's been down, I don't think it's unthinkable to put emphasis on the headbutt.

But yeah, he definetly does. Interestingly, I don't think many people mention his chin. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't go down as one of the best ever, though. It is better than Duran's, I'd say.

 

Mosely definately has an ATG chin. He's easy to hit and because he is so aggressive, he runs into punches.
Also, The heatbutt started things off, but Vernon was hurting Mosely throughout the fight and made him actually grown when hit by a body shot. He got knocked down later in the fight, too, without a headbutt. I would say him getting knocked down was more Vernon and less headbut.

 

I have to disagree there amigo. The headbutt was about a minute before the KD, I'd attribute the KD 99% to Forrest's punches and 1% the headbutt, with a 1% margin of error!! Seriously though, I don't think the headbutt had much to do with it. Shane didn't look fazed when the action restarted, it was just Forrest's reach, his speed, his accuracy, his power that caught Shane out at that moment.

I have to say though, I'm surprised at some of the comments on this thread about how Forrest only 'stunned' Mosley, as if Shane was just a bit rattled, I thought he was so so SO close to being stopped! If the round had went another 30 seconds I don't think he would've made it. He had to take a second count in that second round remember, because his legs were absolutely mush. A stoppage would have been a little premature, but Mosley was on the brink by the time of the bell.

I think Shane has a great chin, but I'm not sure if it's an ATG one. Hopkins wasn't as hurt as that v Mercado and Toney wasn't as hurt as that v Johnson, and that's as hurt as either of those two have ever been. IMO those two have genuine ATG chins. Then again, Mercado and Johnson were the same size as Hopkins and Toney, Forrest was a naturally bigger man than SSM, so maybe I'm being a bit unfair there.

Mosley has a very underrated chin that for sure. I can't believe a lot of people were actually picking Margarito to win by KO, its ridiculous.
