So why on my profile than is it listed my favorite boxer is Roy Jones :think

Its because my favorite boxer is a peak Roy Jones

Maccarnelli just happens to come from Swansea where I am from a modern day fight who is the first ever World Champion of Swansea that is why I have mentioned him alot

But I was into boxing years and years before I knew who Enzo Maccarenelli was

My favoirite boxers are of the 90's the ones I grew up watching

    Pernell Whittaker
    Terry Norris
    Ike Quartey
    Felix Trinidad
    Roy Jones
    Lennox Lewis
    Ricardo Lopez
    Stevie Johnson
    Tim Austin
    Barrera
    Hamed

    etc

Have I touched a raw nerve? You're very sensitive on this gay issue to reply with all this. You clearly feel that it is worth your while queerboy.

The gap between Roy Jones and Joe Calzaghe is the same as the gap between Joe Calzaghe and someone like Jermain Taylor. They are not the same level of fighter. The evidence? Watch all of their fights, and it's clear the two guys are a different standard. Asking who would've won between Jones and Calzaghe is the same as asking who would've won between Sugar Ray Leonard and Aaron Pryor in the early 80s or between Roberto Duran and Antonio Cervantes in the 70s. Both are fighters with legacies, both are very good h2h at their weights, but one of the two is a stone cold elite ATG, and one is not, and any serious fan knows who would've won the fights had they happened.

I do agree, Calzaghe would beat Taylor convincingly, a better fighter in every way.

Nobody will ever know will they?Part Roy's fault because of his cherry picking and not willing to leave USA to make the fight and also JC for not wanting to leave his homebase.
Look first Lacey was going to expose JC and end his reign. He got his ass kicked. Then Kessler was the one to beat JC.He got soundly outboxed.Hopkins?Outboxed.Jones?Got his ASS KICKED.
Funny because JC is not in his prime either-hes what 37 years old?Not like JCs at the top of his game and meeting washed up legends.True there not at there best but niether is JC.
I would favor Jones to beat JC but wouldn't be shocked if JC beat him. There both great boxers.

    Flint,

When has Enzo been a world champion?

Last time I checked he has only won WBO & WBU 'titles'......

Well he wan the WBU title in 2003 when he knocked out Bruce Scott cold inside 4 rounds with a peach of a left hook

I think Maccarnelli got such a good knockout because he wasnt trying for it he was hurting Scott with good boxing once he settled down after the first round scare

He just let his punches fly naturally and that came along very naturally bang onto

Since then he became WBU World Champion

And is the first professional boxer to win a World title belt from Swansea

Good old Colin Jones came within a whisker of bringing the WBC Belt back to the Penyrheol Boxing Shed but it was not meant to be

He hasn't won a WBC/WBA/IBF title, so therefore doesn't qualify...........

    You dont set the standard

    World titles are Word titles

We live in a era of Multiple World titles

Even a IBA Champion can call himself a World Champion

The other three belts hold no magic superitoty over the other belts other than the fact they are older and have alonger history plenty of good fighters have wan WBO belts and he wan tha too

Why would Joe Calzaghe be stupid enough to fight a Roy Jones Jnr in his prime Im sure most with any sense would have avoided him at all costs if they had serious world title ambitions

Roy Jones would win confortably. Maybe if Jones had a shocking night against the Calzaghe from the Lacy fight Calzaghe could win but Jones at his best wins comfortably.

However Flint we all know you want Calzaghe to retire soon so Enzo can be Wales p4p number 1 :D
