Interesting...before the show got underway, Hoye and Cora were pretty clear favorites..:think

Although I picked Cora to win the whole thing, and I'm not changing my mind, I will say the Escalera kid is my "sentimental" favorite. That's based on who is daddy is. Escalera senior made a HUGE contirbution to the legend that is Alexis Arguello, and Alexis is my all time favorite.

Whoever wins the Ross/Cora fight should win the whole thing. In a 12-round fight, I'm pretty confident that Ross would knock out Cora, but in a 5-rounder I'm not so sure. Ross should be able to use his physical advantages to win.

I know very little about some of these guys. Let me ask ya this; assuming Cora makes the final, will he be the best fighter his opponent has ever faced?

I'm going to say maybe not; since he could wind up facing Hoye in the finals, and Hoye has faced Diaconu, Griffin, and Woods. Anyone else from the bottom two brackets, and he probably would be the best they've faced.

Hino fought (and lost to) Herbie Hide, and Rico Hoye fought (and lost to) Adrian Diaconu and Clinton Woods, but other than that, probably.

That said, Ross very well may be the best opponent Cora has faced in his career. I'd rate Ross ahead of Tokarev, though he's probably not as powerful. Certainly a better boxer though. On the flipside, Cora's certainly the best opponent Ross has faced at the pro level.

Cora can probably outbox just about anyone in the division, but has a very sketchy chin; Ross loses focus and tends to take rounds off, but has decent power and is a good boxer himself in the mold of Steve Cunningham. I don't see anyone else in the competition beating either of those two, but I could see their fight going either way.

Cora won't face Ross in the finals though...just the quarterfinals...

Exactly, which is why I said the winner of their fight should take it all.
