Does Hatton have even a slim chance of winning against Pacquiao

Pac is getting stopped....

 

Hatton will win this. People think too much of Pacs victory against shot Oscar.

Hatton will make it ugly inside fight and take Pac out of hes gameplan.

Quite funny that eight months ago the consensus was that a fight between Hatton and Pacquiao would be a circus sideshow due to being such a mismatch in Hatton's favour.

Now Pacquiao beats the legendary David Diaz and a 147lb statue of former boxer Oscar De La Hoya and suddenly Hatton is the one with no chance.

As ever the truth is somewhere in the middle...

 

Sadly for me and unfortunately for Manny, I give Hatton a very good chance of victory. I'm viewing this fight as pretty much a 50-50. If pushed I will back Manny to KO Ricky late, but I say that with very little confidence. Manny has never fought any prime fighter above 135, he has never fought a prime elite fighter above 130, and Ricky is a prime elite fighter at 140. It's going to be a thriller of a fight, that is the only thing that I am certain of!!

 

i think hatton needs to land a significant punch in the first 2-3 rounds to have a chance. If not i see pac begin unleash his attack without fear. the culmination of punches will beat hatton down 8th round

 

I think Hatton has a good chance IMO.
Hatton is the number 1 guy his division and Pac has had to move up the weight classes to face him. (So it aint' a foregone conclusion that Pac wins this one).

 

we all now pac is gonna land the question is ricky. i believe pac has improved his overall game. his defence looks very impressive right now.

 

Disagree with this. I dont think Pac will need to feel a punch early doors to respect Hatton's power. No one else at the weight hits as hard as Ricky and Pac will be fully aware of this. If he were to get reckless then it could get difficult for Manny.

I think it will be more a case of whether Hatton can slow Pac down as the fight goes on. Hatton will be tagged on the way in a number of times, but its a question of whether he can stalk Manny down, cut down his workrate and land some shots on the inside. Easier said than done.

 

Really? So Pacquaio could beat a 168er? a 175er? Because he has these "skills" When DOES weight have something do with it?

 

What's obviously underestimated is Pac's power punch. Given that Hatton is a power puncher at 140, do you think that speed is he only thing that beat DLH and Diaz. I think that Pac's power has something to say on both occasion. I strongly feel/believe that Pacquiao hits harder than PBF!!!...

like someone said before, Hatton can cut the ring off very well. If he can make it an inside fight against Pac, I think that being alot stronger he can win it.

But i think Pac will catch him coming in or off balance and then slide out of the way. Pac will not move in straight lines, and he will keep the fight at a distance. If Hatton had a great chin I would give him the nod, but he got badly wobbled when he fought Lazcano.

 

I think there is too much emphasis on the Lazcano fight.

This was Hatton's first fight back from a KO loss. He obviously didnt have the best camp given that he changed trainers after this fight. There were reports he was suffering from a virus prior to the fight. He looked for a KO at every available opportunity. He led with a left hook for the majority of the fight. He done an awful lot wrong. But took home a correct decision win.

Other than at WW, Hatton has only looked shaky in this fight and from memory the Eamonn Magee fight many moons ago. I dont think we'll see Hatton have any chin trouble. It will more be a case of him being caught often and how much cumulative damage that will do (as happened to Oscar). But as I've said above I do think he has a very good chance.
