Just as I predicted BEFORE this fight was made... back when they were all saying that Wlad didn't have the balls to fight Haye and was ducking him. (Check Fighting Weight's Avatar:patsch).... they are ALREADY in backtrack mode trying to discredit a possible win. Although they also still say Haye will win by knockout.:-(

    Some very confused people.

Thanks for playing... obviously you lose.:good

If you want to turn this into debate about past fighter, we can wait until Wlad is retired as well... and then we can look back on his complete body of work too.

I think Thompson is a tough SOB. now, he doesn't have a solid resume but im going off his performance against wlad. He's a huge defensive southpaw with a tremendous reach and solid chin. He's busy and uses both hands well and like to pressue. Goes to the body. He forced wlad out his normal gameplan which in itself is an accomplishment, neutralizng the jab given his length and southpaw style. Wlad went to the body and lead right hand to break him down. I was very impressed with Thompson in the first 7 rounds.

This is a guy who would trouble anyone today imo sans vitali.

wlad is 13-2, 11kos is world title fights if u count his earlier reign as wbo champ. if not, he's 7-0, 5kos in his IBF,WBO reign. it's possible he could rack up 20 defenses and unify all 4belts once vitali retires.

at that point, consistency counts for a lot imo no matter the perceived competition level cause that is mostly subjective. Fact is, the dedication, discipline and control it takes to reign for as long as Joe Louis or Holmes did is a true mark of greatness. H2h matchups factor in far less imo. A lot of these socalled great fighters lacked conisitency in their career. they were great for a very short time but if someone is very good for a very long time, the must be given their props

i admire fighters like Lennox and Wlad who suffer bad losses, yet regroup and work hard to improve. that's a mark of greatness in many ways. u don't usually see fighters get better with age. imo, it's a combination of increased knowledge, experience and physical skills meshing at the right time.

that being said, my boy wlad gonna blast herbie haye into another dimension :D

For me its who you beat.Give him his props yes but he can't be regarded like the others who've beaten other great heavys of that era.
If he can unify all the belts that would be impressive though politics may stand in the way.Unfortuantely, belts don't really mean what they once did because of mega-money fights eg.Pac-DLH

    :rofl
Are we to expect for Wlad to create a time machine? How else are we supposed to judge a current fighter, in his current setting? By discussing past greats that he wasn't able to fight?:huh By looking at his incomplete resume as a current fighter against that of a retired fighter from the past with a complete body of work?

Really? Ok... then look at it like this. Lennox Lewis was not considered the recognized Champion until after he beat Holyfield in their 2nd fight. So, Lewis' title "reign" begins at that point. Lewis beat Michael Grant, Frans Botha, and David Tua... and then was knocked out by Rahman. He then won his title back, beat an extremely over the hill Mike Tyson, escaped a fight that he was losing against Vitali Klitschko who had ZERO big fight experience at that point, due to a cut.... and then retired. Is that the "reign of terror" that Wlad could never compare to?

That would be a great title if Haye was the top billing but Wlad holds the belts.............Goliath vs. David just doesn't sound right. :yep
