I don't think I've seen the Castillo fight, I heard it could have gone either way.

I thought he definitely beat Malignaggi. I'm not convinced Urango can outpoint Ngoudjo without multiple knockdowns, so hopefully it won't be an issue tonight either way.

Do you think ***gi was a HBO creation?

I have never felt he was up to much, other than showing plenty of balls whilst getting his features re-arranged he has done nothing of note.

He just got the lucky lottery ticket of a Hatton payday. Had he ran into any of the other champs at 140 he would still have been beaten, albeit not as convincingly.

I'm not sure. Nobody even rated him highly. He was seen as the second best in one of the weaker, or at least less proven divisions. Whether he actually was the second best is highly debateable, but even so its not a great accolade.

He was fortunate enough to catch the worst ever version of Cotto, and while it was relatively close on the cards, the kid still took a pounding. He did well against N'dou the first time, he struggled the second and I scored it for PM by a point. Likewise against Ngoudjo, except I had Ngoudjo a clear winner. His overall form suggests he was never second best, and was fortunate overall with matchmaking and decisions in his favour. Nothing in his performance would tell you he's a top fighter, when he has one effective hand, no power, and his defence is not good enough to fight that style.

For a supposed slickster he is remarkably hittable - at times he made Hatton look like Pernell Whitaker :patsch

The only way he avoids shots is running, perhaps with a better trainer who can read the opponent better he could enjoy further success, but other than a decent chin and heart, he has very little.

Once the shot landed in the 2nd round he wasn't interested anymore, and was comprehensively outboxed for the remainder of the fight.

There are so many ways to beat him, I am surprised that he only has 2 losses on his record, even if you add the gifts he received..... say 3 or 4 losses, doesn't reflect his failings very accurately.

He was carefully manipulated into that ranking. Mainly on the back of a brave performance against Cotto, and then against a very slow fighter like N'dou. When he lost the use of his right hand, he struggled even more with N'dou the second time. It all suggests he was a top 10 fighter, but thats his limit.

I think he should retire. The guy has got one hand due to injury. That is not enough at the top level unless you have remarkable attributes. I think he's hit his peak by picking up a belt, getting into #2, I don't see any way he can bounce back and reach the same heights. For that reason on a sporting level he should retire and become a promoter/commentator. Unfortunately the money will loom.

His armoury of punches is non-existent.

Whether it was his training or not, I don't know. He ought to have thrown lots of lead left hooks against Hatton together with jabs - he was very predictable.

What parts do you disagree with? The more I think about it, the more I see Ngoudjo having problems with Urango's physical strength and relentless attack.

I would still favor him over fighters like Alvarado and Figueroa. His NY/NJ fans will continue to buy tickets and he might pick up another belt if he gets lucky.. no point of retiring yet.

I'm sure a fight with Zab at 140 at the MSG would be a big seller in New York and winnable for Paulie.

Get out. Judah would kick his ass. Zab has a poor mentality that is particularly vulnerable under pressure. He's not worried about a one handed featherfist that he can tee off on, and prefers to fight walking backwards.

Zab is a 6 round fighter even at 147, his stamina couls well be even worse at 140. I wouldn't have PM as favourite but he'd def. be in with a shout after the first 4 or 5 rounds.
