You're right, I don't understand it if Haye gets in at 7 for essentially beating Mormeck in France. You can't justifiably say that anything Haye has done apart from that warrants him being called one of the best fighters in the world in any weight class.
Hmmmm.... havent thought about this since Mosely's win. I'll go for (provisionally); 1 Pac 2 Joe C 3 JMM 4 Israel Vazquez 5 Hopkins 6 Cotto 7 Mosely (subject to the outcome of his hands of stone) 8 Marg 9 Hatton 10 Calderon Other contenders; Williams, Haye, Rafa Marquez, Vic D, Wlad, Incidentally, did I miss a memo on Cabellero or something? WTF!!??
I sort of sit on the fence. I like P4P lists and the debates that follow, but am with TFFP - places shouldn't be lineal. Cotto beats Mosley, gets in, then gets whipped by Margo, he stays in, below Margo, then Shane whips Margo, goes into top 10, then they both disappear, whilst Caballero receives a promotion atsch Hatton peaked at #4 I believe, then slipped gradually until he left the 10 altogether, and has been in and out since.
The Ring put him in their top ten and now everyone thinks they have to, apparantly. On your top ten, what is the justification for having Margarito in the top ten (cheating allegations and possible future ban aside)? Guy lost to Williams, profited from Cotto's always evident stamina problems after being handily outboxed in the first half of the fight, then got outclassed and frankly massacred by Mosley.
Well to be fair you've nailed it. It's not about who you class as being one of the worlds best fighters throughought weight class, it's about, in their weight class. who has been most domininant, and if conjectured onto other classes how good would they be. The definition being... Pound-for-pound rankings compare boxers regardless of weight by using criteria such as boxing records, percentage of wins by knockout and level of competition to determine who is the better boxer. That's the flaw in P4P rankings as people see it. But within that criteria Haye cleared his division within 20 fights(WBC,WBA,WBO,RING) with a 90+ KO%, and moved up to the division above and KO'd 2 top 15 heavyweights in 2 attempts. 1. How can he not feature. 2. How can he be behind people like Dawson or Cotto, who have NEVER fought the best in their respective divisions, let alone be seen as so dominant. Doesnt make sense.
Yup, I have to be VERY VERY bored to get into a P4P debate and when I do its usually about a point of procedure rather than the actual rankings.
Mr Swollocks, did you see Rickys latest outburst, hes proclaiming himself as the biggest draw in boxing! & thats the truth. Rickys arrogance knows no bounds.
Having read much from this forum for quite a while (though I'm a reluctant poster) it amazes me how many people seem to come here just to work themselves/each other up. Some of these threads remind me of a club for lactose-intolerant people who constantly feed each other mouthfulls of cheese...
Why are you talking about cheese to me Dagger? & why are you a reluctant poster Dagger? Why, why why?
You were like that once dunky with a certain fighter I dare not mention in case it pushes you over the edge.
I appreciate you were just making the bullets for another lunatic rant from Betty, but don't shoot me for pointing out the facts of the situation.
Absolutely no love from anyone for Juan Manuel Lopez:huh this kid must be in the top twenty surely? another fight or two he could easily be top 5 perhaps i am over hyping him:think
