During my working life I have had the very good fortune of working with men from all the home nations. Everyone has the banter, its Jock this, Paddy that or Taffy the other but when the **** hits the fan everyone pulled together. As a "Black Jock" in South Armagh I couldn't wish for anyone better than a young lad from the east end of Glasgow to cover my arse....in times of trouble he isn't scottish, i'm not english, as sad as it sounds we are brothers, like it or not.

But hey, arent we all supposed to be british buddies all fighting under the one banner?

Thanks for your post, cos it proves this 'british' bull**** is just that, BULL****.

I dont personally believe that Joe is the best of Britain, i think he should share the accolade with Ricky Hatton and i for one cringed when last year Joe Calzaghe was sitting there with the BBC Sports personality of the year and Ricky got a lesser award. Lets look at the facts here ..
Ricky has fought the p4p best in the world, Floyd Mayweather, his only loss. There was no Mayweather in Joe's division
Ricky beat Tzsyu who may have been past his peak but not as far past as Roy Jones Jr
    ..........
Joe Calzaghe was protected for 8 years before he fought Lacey who actually proved to be an overhyped, muscle-bound chump ..
Kessler is still unproven, Manfredo average, and an old Hopkins gave Joe the fright of his life in a razor close decision
    ......
Im not meaning to do Joe down, i think he's a good fighter but Ricky Hatton's only loss is to Floyd Mayweather and Joe has never had to face 'a Mayweather' .. He has faced 'potentially good' fighters and name 'american fighters' who are past they're best. Joe has never faced a super-middle equivalent of Mayweather

Sorry Icey, but you aint my brother, too many years of english oppression for me to class anyone south of the border as a brother.

Now I am no Joe Calzaghe nuthugger, but COME ON!

Kessler is class, that was a truly great win for Joe, & he had to go through hell to pull it off.
IMO, that was Joes best win of his career. Even I give him his props for pulling that one off.

Thats a good point Dunky but for me on a 'World' level Kessler hasnt proven anything but he can lose to Calzaghe. He was coming forward in straight lines all night even when by round 7 he needed to go to plan B .. Great fighters have different strategies in they're arsenal, Kessler did the same thing all night. Kessler could turn out to be a great fighter but in a lean 168 division, maybe he should consider going up to challenge Chad Dawson, that would really make him a 'name' in the states if he were to win that.
Hes got the frame to do it and Chad aint a stellar fighter. Super-Middle is not currently a division were you can impress no matter who you beat

So Kessler hadnt proven anything on a world level prior to the Calzaghe fight? All those belts he came into the ring with must have been a mirage then!
So Kessler had so much failures during the fight he had to go to 'plan B' despite the fact that he hit Calzaghe with his best shots, & even Joe admitted afterwards that he had never been hit so hard in his entire career?

All that happened was Joe nullified Kesslers power, & 'old manned' Mikkel, & pulled off a spectacular win.

Kessler was a danger from the start to the end of the fight, & to label him a one dimensional failure for not being able to knock out Calzaghe does the welshman a huge disservice, as Joe somehow took all his best shots, & kept coming back.

****, Im not even a Calzaghe fan, but give the welshman his respect. He beat a prime Kessler, & to try to take away from that win even makes me blush.
Man, if Calzaghe was a scotsman I would have a field day with you, but as he isnt, Im bowing out of this argument. Why? cos the Calzaghe fans dont need me to fight their battles on this one.

Firstly Dunky your giving 'belts' too much respect in a division that Joe Calzaghe was always the dominant force, just because Joe stuck to the WBO road doesnt make the WBC/WBA/IBF anymore prestigious, everyone knew that Calzaghe was the man at 168 .. I never said Kessler had failures, i just said that by beating Markus Beyer and Andrade, that doesnt mean that you can fight Calzaghe in the same way. To fight Calzaghe you have to have a plan to stop his movement and to make every punch count, which Kessler didnt do ..
Your right, Joe took every shot that Kessler threw at him but those shots were sporadic at best, Kessler landed a few good shots in a couple of rounds but nothing that kept the pressure on Calzaghe, a giood uppercut here and a good right hand there doesnt win you a fight and certainly doesnt prove that you are world class ..
And when you say Calzaghe beat a 'Prime Kessler', what does that mean ?? Do you mean that we have already seen the best that Kessler has to offer ?? I hope not because im not impressed and he has potential, IF he learns how to box different kinds of fighters

A field day with me ?? Dunky ive seen you trying to say that Scott Harrison and Alex Arthur are world class .. Your nationalistic fervour for Scotland makes you sound like an idiot all the time .. I will debate you on anything boxing anytime and it'll be me having a field day with you .. Kessler World Class based on a defeat by Calzaghe ?? Your insane
