Are we talking about an announcer at the turn of the century just gone or the previous one (1899-1900)? Will need clues here!
An Aussie went to the States and faught one of the finest boxers ever... Top 5 p4p in anyones book... Henry Armstrong... Who was this Aussie...??? And what was the result???
Good Work mate... actually thought this might take a little longer to answer... KO3 was the end result... Alf was dropped 8 times in the fight.
Ok... one to test you again... I hope... Our flyweight division has been less than world class, yet several great names are worth mention. Back in the 20's.. a couple of Oz flyweights engaged in a battle with tragic cirumstance. Both men had vast ring experience, and a good friendship.. Ultimately, one of the pair died a few days after thier fistic encounter. Who are the men?????
I wanna say Mendies because he is the only old timer fly I can remember. Im pretty certain he died from a fight but not sure what era he was in. And I cant remember his first name so I cant check on boxrec ..I thought it was Billy or Bobby but it wasnt.
W.a.R Mate, you're a class student... The men were George Mendies and Harry Gordon. 1924... Sadly, Mendies did die after the bout.
