You're right. Sturm took that fight 8-4 - easily. We had polls here and despite all the Oscar man love, Sturm was judged to have won it decisively by overwhelming majority. If memory serves me correctly I think he garnered about 90% of the vote. When you factor that Widdow had about 15 aliases at the time, STRUM did even better statistically speaking. :yep

The agenda at the time was clearcut and simple. Preserve the mega-fight with Hopkins at all costs. The only thing that could make that indignity for Sturm worse is to have someone STILL rationalising a"win" for DLH in a fight he lost cleanly. Ask Widdow about his DLH-Hopkins scorecard sometime, just for a chuckle. He actually had Oscar well up on the cards at the time of the stoppage. Now superimpose that scenario on the Sturm bout.

After all, Klitschko was stopped on some of the most horrific facial damage in the history of the sport (and the real threat of loss of vision in one eye) by the absolute worst form of Lewis on record. So what if Lewis didn't want to come back at 38/39? Think if either Klitschko retires as an easily argued Top 10 historical HW at 38, and after a short notice final win over a fighter as good as Widdow claims Vitali to be, there will be a hue and cry from fans? Hell no.

Haye may sometimes look a little right hand happy on the attack and he may not utilise his speed as much as he could, but let's remember that Haye loads up a lot on his punches.

However, watch the Enzo Mac fight to see how he is quick enough to time an advancing opponent to perfection.

Haye has good reflexes and can fight under pressure and going backwards - something I fear Wlad had yet to master. :yep

Haye would be well advised to start carrying that left a lot higher or Klitschko will throw a double left hook and then lower the boom with a right cross. Haye is damn fast, for certain.

You weren't even old enough to seriously follow the sport for much of the man's career, but now become some sort of authority? Based on what? Boxrec? Your first blown call was to say Lewis had no real standing before beating Holyfield. That's nonsense. If you WERE old enough in 1992/1993 you would be much more aware of the real-life optics of Bowe refusing to fight Lewis. You'd know there was an agreement in place involving Bowe, Ruddock, Lewis, and Holyfield - and that de facto, Lewis was the man with the most cred when Bowe turtled. Just because Americans didn't want to admit it doesn't mean it wasn't true.
