I thought the idea of these threads you were starting is that we can discuss fights without all the crap that goes on in the General Forum?

Vic KO 9 after dominating from round 4 onwards.

Yeah but its TFFP's thread and he can insult all he wants, especially if he can get a dig in at Hatton fans at the same time. I don't doubt TFFP knows a fair bit about boxing but his manner lets him down.

    I'm going for a Vic ko 5

Both his fights with Hussein were shown live over here as far as I remember; we also got delayed coverage of his fight with Rojas.

My heart says Arce, but my head says Vic.

I'm basically a heartless sort of *******, so the head wins...Vic UD.

    Correct.

    I'm above the rules.

Anyway, didn't you see, we have a gentlemans agreement now.

Darchinyan mid stoppage i'm gonna go for, with a top performance to boot.

As has been said Arce isn't what he used to be. Still really looking forward to this one and hopefully Arce can prove me wrong.

Darchinyan should stop Arce, who's badly past it and has **** defense, but I think Arce actually has a good chance in this fight because of Vic's questionable punch resistance and never having to deal with a fighter like Arce before.

Arce says that he's trained for Vic much harder than any of those comeback fights and I think we will see the best version of Arce in a while this saturday. He is truly 100% motivated for this one and although he has taken an insane amount of punishment in his career, he still might have enough left to win in a war against a fighter who he's tougher than.

The outcome of this fight all depends on how well Arce takes Vic's bombs. Darchinyan has power, but how much is still a big question. If Arce can take Vic's biggest shots well in the early-mid rounds and not show too much respect for him, then this fight will become very competitive in the second half. Vic has never fought someone as relentless or strong as Arce and has never had to deal with power even close to Arce's in his career. Vic has been stunned quite a few times and looked vulnerable in many of his fights, especially in the second half where he looked tired in spurts (probably from putting so much energy into his power punches early on). In those spurts, he was able to breathe for a little while because his opponents were afraid of his power and let him control the pace. If this happens against Arce, I have no doubt Arce will sense he's tired and jump on him with everything he has. Arce has huge, underrated one punch power and I don't think Vic could take that many of his shots without getting hurt or badly broken down. Arce also punches to the body great and has an awkward left hook/uppercut that he fires from any range which he's stopped a lot of solid-chinned fighters with. How Darchinyan handles some of these huge body shots if they land is a big question mark, because nobody has been able to work Vic's body well.

Vic is not comfortable with a war and that's what this fight will likely turn out to be if he starts tiring a bit in the mid-late rounds. He likes to trade, but only in short exchanges and the few times a fighter answered with his own power shots and pushed him back, Vic looked very uncomfortable (but always got saved since opponents were afraid to follow up with much because of worrying about his power). If Arce can take Vic's shots well and start pushing him back more and more over the course of the fight, he'll be able to land more body shots and connect with some big punches that would most likely hurt him. Even if he doesn't land much, simply forcing Vic to fight in a way that's uncomfortable to him will break him down mentally and make him slow down faster.

Stylistically, southpaws like Mijares and Rojas are a nightmare for Arce. Darchinyan, not so much. Having power is often not enough to keep Arce off of you as shown in his past fights.. a very good jab is essential against him and Vic doesn't have one (it's more of a measuring and set-up jab as he comes forward).

So.. Arce is obviously bound to get hit a lot more than Vic in this fight, but he also has a much better chin than Vic and is more comfortable with the fight turning into a war in the later rounds. If he could take Vic's punches well in the first half (which is a pretty big if), I think there's a great chance he wears Vic down to the body, forces him to fight an uncomfortable fight as he imposes his physical strength on him, and eventually stops him. But of course, the most likely result is a Darchinyan mid-round TKO because of how bad Arce's defense and inferior skills.

55% Vic TKO, 20% Vic UD, 23% Arce TKO, 2% Arce UD.

The undercard will be good too. I think Kid Diamond will destroy DeMarco.

Vic was affected by body shots against Pacheco. Definitely a glimmer of light there.

Love both of these guys, but gonna have to go with mid to late stoppage in favour of Darchinyan.

Really looking forward to this one, especially after watching Vic in the Mijares fight

Re. Arce fights being shown over here, I've definately seen a fair few on undercards, I think the guy above was right with the Rojas bout being the last one I remember seeing live

Arce to Knock him out, Vic will go out looking to take his head off but Arce is too experienced and will come on strong to stop Darchinyan just like Donaire did.

setanta 0200 ... vic and jorge kicks off around 0315.
apparently we'll be able to watch it on freeview ... won't switch off like it used to. Margarito and Mosley was as well, so good news.
