I couldn't disagree more. Mosley's resume improved substantially with the Margarito win, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. I rank it as only slightly better than Calzaghe's, and clearly weaker than Hopkins's, Oscar's or Barrera's. His lw res is feeble, his only win over a prime great is Oscar I, he did not deserve the decision v Oscar the second time, he lost twice to both Winky and Forrest, he lost to Cotto, he never fought Trinidad or Tszyu, when he fought Vargas and Mayorga they were both past-prime... Unparalleled?? Sorry, but no.
I thought we were merely talking about competition faced not necessarily wins. I think Calzaghe would have lost to a prime Roy Jones but I would respect him a lot more for having that loss on his record.
Mosley held one belt at 135 and he was supposed to be an animal there. He then jumped competition/ a division for a money fight with DLH. He has a good 147 resume. I believe he beat DLH was lineal and then tried to unify with Forrest. The Margo win really boosts it. Again he fought DLH who I think may have been lineal at 154. The Vargas wins were good and then theres the Winky fights. He missed a few i.e. Tito BUT he was lined up to fight Tito. I think he lacks a resume at 135 and 140. A shame cos they may have been his best divisions.
I don't hate him but I don't like: -his slapping style of punching -that he was fighting Manfredo after the Lacy win -he wasn't going over to the States to fight the top fighters before the Lacy fight
Mosley was better at lightweight but there was no opposition really.... Plus all the roids probably made him put on lots of weight...., beenserious though he was very good at lightweight but boxed mediocre opposition in his defenses and was unimpressivewinning the title from Philip Holiday.
I don't want to split hairs because I respect both fighters immensely but Oscar kept Winky out in the cold when he held the championship at 154, Mosley won it and fought him immediately. Unparalleled may have been something of a superlative but if you look at the resume, there are not many that come close.
DLH has fought pretty much everyone there was to face....... For every gap on his resume there is someone who was ducked by pretty much everyone else at the time. Whitaker for starters. I mean..... why the **** would you want to fight him?
I dislike him becuase he was calling himself a living legend and the "champ" for 10 years when all he had was a Trinket belt and a whole load of laughable defenses of this joke belt. and even before his fight with Peter Manfredo he was claiming his Legacy was ATG and have nothing left to prove !!!!!
True but I can't remember the SOP in the Lightweight div back then.... Ivan Robinson and Gatti were about...The div had pretty much emptied... Giovanni Parisi may have been champ too.... That was back when a unification match was a absolute rarity remember. Mosley had little credability back then, he was recognized as such as a potential superstar but ballsed up taking the IBF title from HOliday unimpressively on points... He kind of came from nowhere beating De La Hoya.
What I mean is that for every Margarito (say) from DLH's record, there is someone on it (Whitaker, say) that nobody else wanted to fight.
