I agree that he is past the point of being called a prospect. He is a champion that just needs a big name or 2 to launch him into super stardom.

Well, Macho, Tito's accomplishments can't be denied. But Tito's fame was beyond boxing. People loved Tito because the kind of person he is. He was "un personaje del pueblo". I like Juanma as you can see in my avatar. I hope he does well. I think he has the tools to dominate Izzy, Rafael and Celestino. But we will have to wait and see. One thing is sure, he does have better personality than Cotto. That should help him sell.

I don't think so man. By the time Tito was at this same point in his career he was already a super star. The weight that Lopez fights at will limit his superstardom.

I hope he goes far, but I can only judge a fighter like that when his will power is pushed to its limits, when he's fighting in the trenches and is hurt and overcomes it.

e.g valero stays true to form by whipping everybody in the first round, but what happens when he fights someone that is able to take away his one weapon and hurt him back?? does he start running or reach deep down and give it everything he has and change his game plan?

I think that the current WBO super bantamweight champion Juanma Lopez is the next best thing in boxing. He reminds me of a young Wilfredo Gomez - and I know that those are pretty high standards but he has the chance to have just as big of legacy as Gomez.

He's powerful, poise, calm under pressure, skilled, schooled (former Olympian) and already has a championship.

He remains undefeated at bantamweight and makes some serious noise in the featherweight division(s)

I am becoming a fan of his. He has much potential for a promising future. I just hope we can get to watch a fight where he goes atleast 12 rounds against a good opponent. I want to see how his chin and stamina is.
