never was a fight in some restaurant. Dont know about the Barrett fight stuff. Most everything was in fun. Those things were said to promote a fight with a Klitschko
Maybe Haye believes he can get a bit more and is worth more. There is plenty of time until the bell ring's to try and get a bit more cash for himself. Know this though, Widdow! You will feel like a Widdow when Haye takes out your beloved Wladimir, and the ringside doctors have him taken to the hosptial on a stretcher! :deal
why would you say that? You can only offer so much and then a guy can say yes or no...so if haye says "NO" (IMO he will say yes) thats Wlad's fault?
ok.. I know what the offer is and I know what fighters typically get...take it for what it worth or dont take it at all. No worries:good
Haye really is in no position to haggle over dollars. He has the shot of a lifetime with a big bag of gold in his hand now. Take it or leave it. It's simple, if Haye tries to whine for more, he loses the shot to Arreola or Dimitrenko. He has to accept it is Klitschko who is calling the shots. That's the reality. ANd it could be two years before he gets a second chance. Haye may be smart cookie but he's out of his league here.
I'm sure it is a very reasonable.Interesting insight:goodI just meant it would be quite natural for someone like yourself to be biased towards your own man, glad you understand my POV
I don't believe that either, Peter was a serious test for a guy that was out of the ring for almost 4 years. I do believe it was only right for Vitali to honor Gomez as his mandatory since the WBC graciously made him Champion Emeritus, just as they did for Floyd Mayweather.
Gomez has more credibility at HW than Haye does. They are both former Cruisers BTW. Gomez earned his shot by beating McCall & Virchis in 2 WBC eliminators. What has Haye done at Heavy again? Oh yeah, he beat some pollack that I never heard of & an old Monte Barrett was wasn't ranked anywhere near top 10.
Haye is the one that won't sign the contract...............my guess is that he wants more money for his last fight. :yep
Exactly. The Champion calls the shots & quite frankly Haye is lucky to be considered since he hasn't done jack **** at HW.
check this out: David Haye stirred up the heavyweight division with his non-stop verbal media onslaught against WBO/IBF Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko, insisting he was being ducked by Dr. Steelhammer, that Klitschko’s style of boxing was a disgrace and he would be the one to remove Klitschko from the throne. Last week Haye was offered a chance to box Wladimir Klitschko for the world heavyweight title in June of 2009 in his hometown of London. But the loud-mouthed Haye is now showing signs of apprehension - supposedly about the dollar figures - and may not accept the match-up most ring observers expected was a foregone conclusion. “I can’t really share the terms, but what I can tell you is that we feel that the terms offered are very reasonable and Haye is getting an opportunity to fight for the Heavyweight Championship after only one fight as a heavyweight,” said K2 manager Tom Loeffler via e-mail. “Haye does bring UK TV money, and therefore we feel like we have offered better terms than any other boxer would receive for a voluntary defense for Wladimir. The only other alternative for Haye to fight for a title is against Valuev or Chagaev, they are both not as marketable as either Klitschko, and both Universum and Sauerland Event would require very substantial option terms.”
So you critisize Haye for fighting a shop worn Barrett, yet Gomez is credible because he beat a very old McCall and Virchis:huh
What did any of the lower weight champions do in the above weigth class to get an immediate title shot at the champion in the next weight division? History is filled with Champions stepping up in weight to fight the champion in the next weight up. The argument that Haye has to prove himself at heavy is horse ****. atsch What Haye has achieved at Cruiser in so little fight's and his KO percentage is enough. :deal
Unforunately the WBC didn't ask my opinion. :yep I don't think McCall was really worthy of a title eliminator myself but Virchis was undefeated before he fought Gomez. The fact is Gomez has only 1 loss on his record and he's fought many Heavys to earn his shot.
