Willie Limond turns to promoting; Shoots for the WBU world title

im sorry its just the WBU..........the WBU...........i don't like any alphabets but the WBU is the worst, worse than the WBF, IBO, IBA. They have 2 champions currnetly i dont get how there even in business.

its hard to get the right fights, so i got to take anychances i get, and to be fair a lot of good fighters in past years have held that title, but i just need 12 round fights now

 

look at mccallister he held the wbu and who did he fight?? thats right murray,so it can get you the fights you want.

 

Boxing's a dirty game, and if you don't play by those dirty rules you'll probably get nowhere. Limond's fighting for the WBU title because he has to, he'll probably even enjoy having a new shiny piece on the mantelpiece but if you asked Willie would he before this 'World title shot' or an eliminator to be mandatory for the British/Commonwealth/European title, I think we all know what he'd choose.

Best of luck with the promotion Willie, not an easy thing to go into, especially when you're still fighting. But I suppose it will give you and others the opportunity to fight when you wouldn't otherwise and you get to keep a higher % of your purse aswell.

Hatton, Lockett, Macceranelli, Gomez, Jennings may have all held that belt, but it wasnt the WBU that got them shots agaisnt Tysuzu, Pavlik and Cotto, it was the fact that Frank Warren was there promoter. Name a fighter that has used the WBU as a springboard to boost his career that was not signed to Frank Warren??

the only current WBU champion is Choi Tspureveen and he has not fought since winning the belt almsot a year ago. Jennings has given the piece of crap up for the cotto fight.

 

Totally agree mate, with politics in the sport the way they are you have to take any decent opportunity that comes your way if your not signed up with a top promoter.

Im quite new to this site, didnt know many boxers posted on here, but its good to hear from you guys. Good luck for the fight, and hopefully it opens up some more opportunities. Always had respect for you since the Khan fight, all his other previous opponents had pretty much lied down for him lol but you gave us all a good fight! :good

if Anthonly Small was fighting for the WBU people would go ape ****. If Khan was fighting for it people would be jumping out of buildings.
