We both know it simply does not work this way for many high-profile fights. Haye is largely unproven at HW, but was unified champ at CW - impressively so, I might add. That gives him excellent status in the sport for certain. He also has a huge Brit following, and the proposed venue is in England.

What if that so-called "fair" offer is 90/10 or 80/20? Can you confirm it isn't?

 

I actually agree with you on this one. If Wlad's team is offering only 80-20 that would seem a bit unfair.................70-30 seems about right since Haye isn't even a mandatory defense.

since wlad is the champion (2 belts + the ibo) and is the #1 hw of the post lennox era, he should get more money than haye. but haye brings the big audience in the o2 arena, so a 65/35 split would be fair imo.

Only point I am making. No-one can accuse Haye of being unreasonable without backing that up with some numbers. There is NO way to interpret gross bias otherwise. I am not certain what is "fair", but rest assured the Klitschko's (and virtually every other prize fighter) goes after what they can too. It's human nature. Haye is facing a monumental task in his first truly major test at HW and he should go for what he can. He is a major factor in any draw in England, to boot.

I think it's borderline, maybe a bit too high. That's my real opinion. The champ should get 70% or very close to it.

Something like 30-35% for Haye seems fair to me too. I keep hearing rumours about 'someone' trying to switch the fight to Germany though after pronouncing that he wanted to knock Haye out in front of his own fans. Maybe the deal that's on offer is for the same money as originally offered but the fight is in Germany? Seeing as this is a thread where everyone seems to be speculating without actually knowing **** all I may as well throw that into the mixer.

 

That's def. a possibility but if the fight's in Germany Haye should actually get less since Haye isn't exactly a household name there.

 

Arbitration is not common in boxing. The rules are clearly stated for purse bids, but optional fights are just that, optional. A challenger has to take what the champion is willing to give him, however if the champion wants to face a certain opponent he has to find a way of sweetening the pot. A potential 70% is one way of doing it.

 

That may actually be the sticking point right there. Maybe they offered 65-35 in London but only 70-30 in Germany?
