I think Williams, Cotto, or Mosley might have the best chances I guess. Noone's uncapable of being beaten that's for sure and Floyd Mayweather is no exception in my eyes. Pacman though, I don't know... Would be interesting no doubt.
I don't think Cotto is a particularly good boxer, he is one handed, one paced and very susceptible to pressure. Whilst I do believe he is very good at what he does, I feel that on ESB (and other sites generally) people were using their anti-Floyd (and anti-Hoya for that matter) to big him up beyond his station.
Floyd is way faster than Cotto ... he doesn't have to move around alot ... he can stand there flat footed and beat Cotto to the punch. He doesn't have to be set to land a punch ... he can be moving and then out of nowhere open Cotto up with a flush right hand ... Cotto would be walking into punches ... he's never fought a fighter who's used to being pressure and who's comfortable in every part of the ring. Floyd would circle to his left and pot shot Cotto with Right hands all night. Cotto or Pacquiao wouldn't boost his legacy ... This guy has accomplished alot and doesn't need anyone else to be considered top 50 all-time. He's the best of this era --
Just in case you didn't know Pacquiao is a top 30-40 ATG, and a win over him would not boost PBF's legacy?! Pft... yeah sure. Because PBF has all the great wins already? :rofl Cottos win against Mosley ALONE is greater than any win Floyd has.
Those guys can't beat Floyd ... they are rhythm fighters and he would throw them off of their rhythm. A win over Cotto does nothing ... Cotto hasn't accomplished much during his career and his biggest win today is a controversal one over Mosley. Mosley hasn't done much ... he's known more for his losses than his wins ... his biggest wins are over Margarito and DLH ... he has never beat an undefeated champion and he's been riding off that DLH win for years. Pacquiao is a top 30-40 by your opinion ... i'm talking about accomplished boxing writers placing Floyd top 50 and this is before Pacquiao reached the stage he's at now. Mayweather is undefeated unlike Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, Williams, and Pacquiao ... he's never loss ... the Closest he came to that was a split decision to DLH (which many would argue against that) He's never been knocked down He's never been cut He's never been beat Keep hatin my man Pacquiao and Cotto are smaller and have a shorter reach than Mayweather ... he would take advantage of that and knock them out.
Still, Cotto and Pacquiao would both be greater wins for him than he's already raked in. That doesnt mean I would not pick him to beat them.
Dude, you need to stop the bull****. Cotto wont go 12 rounds?? Are you ****ing kidding me. When the hell did Floyd turn into this big hitter. Pot shotting wont do it for Floyd. So you must be out of your mind.
Floyd will never lose since he wont ever fight any of the top fighters at 147. Even PW said the WW division got to hot for Floyd. If Floyd did think he could beat any of them he would have beat at least one of them before he left the sport.
Yes if he fights pacman he will lose by UD or if he has a rematch with Hatton in England he will get knocked out.
Well yes and no. I mean, we didn't know of any problems - but the fact that he hadn't been at 147 in almost 10 years kind of created a problem in and of itself. A natural 130 pounder outweighing a natural light middleweight on fight night cannot be ignored. Someone handled Oscar's weight improperly - he shouldn't have been even near his fighting weight two weeks before the fight, as was confirmed on 24/7. Not making excuses for him, and that version of Manny Pacquiao would have beaten DeLaHoya at any weight that night, but weight was DEFINITELY an issue, and contributed to Oscar looking like a punching bag for 8 rounds.
If Mayweather fights Pacquiao..... The Pinoy is getting knocked out. Don't even start on a Hatton rematch. Floyd UD 118-110.
Of course Mayweather can lose. Just think back to 1989, no one thought Tyson would ever lose, and one year later he was fumbling around on the canvas trying to shove his mouthpiece back in after Buster Douglas knocked him goofy. Lets not forget that Floyd didn't exactly fight everybody and his career was relativly short.
