i see that jonos first defence is against french lightweight champion anthony mezaache.I have never seen this other guy box before all i know is hes never been stopped, and has nobody of notice on his record,so whats everybody else's opinion on this fight, will jono succesfully defend his title? i hope so!
Just Boxrec him....... If Thaxton is on form, I would expect him to win this one, either points or late stoppage.
Khan would get canned if he was fighting someone like him, but id say its a nice simple first defense. id like to see him fight someone who would give him more of a test.
That's because Khan could beat Manny Pacquiao and is going to be the youngest British World Champion and could beat Floyd Mayweather over 4 rounds(although that was the start of Khan's career he could probably beat him over 12 now), that's why Khan would get stick for fighting this guy. It would be on Sky Box Office if it was Khan aswell.
Sarcasm gets you no where my friend. I dont think Khan is that good at all, but if he was fighting that French dude, every single person would say hes fighting a Bum and dont say they wouldnt. Thaxton should be fighting better opponants than that imo.
I've always had respect for Jono, but unfortunately him and Hennessey are trying to build Mezaache up as a legitimate contender seeing as they are headlining, unfortunately he's not. Thaxton should be the first guy to stop him, or at least beat him on points comprehensively.
There was a point to that sarcasm but it seemed to fly over your head completely. All those things(beating Pacquiao etc) were what Khan claimed he could do. I was pointing out the hype generated by Khan and Frank Warren. That is why he would be criticsed for fighting Mezaache and Thaxton wouldn't be. I was serious when I said it would be Sky Box Office aswell, it's one thing expecting to see a poor fighter make a title challenger, it's another to have to pay to see it. Fighters that are hyped will always be criticised more and deservedly so when they have created that hype. They have to try and live up to their own predictions. Thaxton has never made ridiculous claims like those Khan made, hence he won't be criticised(as much). Makes sense to me.
But with all due respect...and I see where you're coming from...Thaxton isn't a silver medalist and isn't as naturally talented as khan so isn't going to be as hyped...yes some of the khan hyping is ott but I don't see what that has to do with fighters people claim are better than khan fighting a shitty opponent...
Bigears is right. Maybe if Khan was not such a **** all the time he may get a bit morte respect and less aggro from fans. The simple fact is that Khan is an hyped up **** who is going no where whereas Thaxton is a genuine decent guy who holds a title Khans talent can onlyt dream of.
