Way out of my league here flamengo..I consider "old time" stuff from the 30's...1930's that is... and I know absolute nothing of that outside the most famous fighters.
Im just taking random stabs at it when you get before 1900..:D..Even before 1930.

Young Kable one of them? Got no clue.

Tougher questions like RODINs are great...really got the brains working...but we might need to run a few easier questions at the same time to encourage envolvement for dummies (like me) that struggle with the real brain busters.

Can see the day where this thread might get broken into two separate ones. One could be for fairly straight forward questions that might typically take 15 minutes to an hour or so to solve, and the other for absolute brain busters that might take a day or more....suppose it'll just evolve.

    Who is this shining star?

Born 1906, February 3rd in a suburb close to Melbourne.
    (should give it away immediately)

The first slaughterman to actually pound body beefs in the chillers (aka Rocky Balboa) in order to promote a fight.

Australian Champion 1928, and held it until he retired - 11 years.

The international bouts he had, put an 'unbeatable' tag on him, and so world boxing avoided him. He fought in Melbourne for a pound a round. He fought an international champ for 1250 pounds, in Sydney, his biggest purse.

(He hadn't a punch, but he flicked and cuffed his way through a long career and retired when still champion. He drew the biggest crowds in boxing history.)

One of his opponents, whose photograph is Flamengo's avitar, was knocked out by the fighter we are seeking here.

Very easy one for Flamengo....but difficult for others.

    Ditdun.....( a negative bell sound)

Dave Palmer, who I think was Ambrose's brother, fought this man.

Here is my difficult one for the day:

When you solve the last one, you have earned your stripes to work on this one.

    Born in New Zealand.

He fought in New Zealand, and fought the New Zealand champ, who died of injuries from that fight. This was the second time that a fighter had died of injuries after fighting this fighter in a contest.

He then fought and won the Light Heavyweight title in New Zealand.

He came to Melbourne and was a sparring partner with Ambrose Palmer.

He fought numerous times (77 bouts) in NewZealand, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and London.

He fought a few Australian Champions at Middle and Light Heavy, but did not win an Australian title.

He travelled on a ship to London with Palmer when they fought in London.

This fighter stayed on in London, and fought several times there.

The fighter was a colourful character, eventually became an actor, and played the role of villains in Australian movies (Mad Dog Morgan 1976) and local television dramas.(Consider Your Verdict 1961)
