Simple question, do you think Calzaghe is an ATG? and if so, where abouts would you place him on the list?

  2. He is not in the top 100 IMO

    Top 5 Brits- Lennox Lewis
    Jackie Berg
    Jimmy Wilde
    Ken Buchanan
    Ted Lewis

I would have Joe at No 6

Even though I like Hatton, and dislike Calzaghe. I would still rank Joe above Hatton (should he beat Pac) because of the long world title reign, and the '0'. But only just.

    76-100 seems fair.

Difficult to justify much higher than that on resume. And I think resume has to count for 80% in these discussions.

    HOF not ATG.

Really, think of all the amazing fighters that have stepped into the ring since Jimmy Figg in 1734. How can anyone even consider putting Calzaghe anywhere near the top 100?

And thats coming from a British Optimist!

  9. H2H makes up much of Jones Jr's placing - although I understand your point.

Serious consideration should be given if Hatton beat's Pacquiao because Pacquiao is P4P no1, A possible top 50 ATG, and more importantly in his Prime.

  11. When your talking ATG the "0" means very little to me.... Its who you beat and how you beat them that counts

For example SRR lost something like 18 fights.. does that mean Joe is better... no way

Joe saving grace is his longevity but i can think of a long list of British boxers who have better wins on there resume

    Like Randy Turpin for example

What is Jones's placing? I don't have him as high as some, but his resume is better than Calzaghe's regardless. H2H might boost him a little further, to around 50 I would think is sensible.

Placing too much emphasis on H2H gets silly, we are then in the world of complete subjectivity.

  13. As I said - I agree completely, but Jones best wins are Toney/Hopkins really, Ruiz is awful - and lost to two former MW's - although Jones win WAS impressive.

However - it's not all that much better - name for name, I'd argue it was the multiweight that's more impressive than the names.

Toney aside, what would you say are Jones Jr's best wins? :huh
