"Nah they would be and i hope, more interested in who's fighting not for what they are fighting" <------- To quote myself.

This has been my point regarding any belts and there worth these days, as far as im concerned. If this opponents true then that blows my personal agenda out of the water.

As i have said before i know Limmonds had problems getting a fight together for various reasons but this aint good. Yeah the undercard from what am told is quality and i would be well happy for that if i had bought tickets. Belt or no belt this matchup on paper as a main event just dosent add up.

How did this come about Willie / Billy ? Surely theres a cpl of eastern euro's that are better value and will at least go the rounds. Do you just have to agree to whatever the WBU put up or whatever a manager offers up in terms of who is in there stable and available ?

I know theres also the stories of boys turning up and ya find out they aint a southy or there height is different and ya never know who will turn up on the night.

What did you think when you saw his record ?

Bottom line is, you got to get paid.

he wasnt the 1st opponent as the 1st opponent then got a better offer to fight elsewere, and for a better title, so thats fair enough, the record on box rec isnt his full record, if im honest the record on box rec aint that good, hes had 18 fights, 2 draws, 2 defeats, hes the zambia superfeather champ, im trying this promoting thing and its got to start somewhere, and when i got his full record i thought it was more respectable, i know im gonna get some stick off some people, but some of robs comments were a wee bit below the belt!! sports network have a show the next day too as does frank maloney, so opponents are harder to get when theres a few shows on within a couple of days each other

Aye is all good, ma posts pretty much explain ma attitude to it all. So as the thread begun, how are you finding the promotion side of it now you are hands on, as well as the training ? I was gonna ask before about Kats fight but you and Rob was a bit busy

Who was the promoter for the set-to ? An Aussie ? I wont ask the cash amount offered but was it more a case of being good regarding it being in Japan ( They throw big money around i thought ) but not so good regarding your stature ? Eg. closer to 10% rather than 50% though it would still be a good payday

Hope am making sense here :nut

This is a thoroughly **** situation. It is an indictment of British/World boxing that a good pro like Willy with an excellent 30-2 record can't get a decent paying fight. At the moment the poor ****er couldn't get a fight at a gypsy wedding :-( , its disgusting.

Say what you like about Don King but he knew what the fans wanted and went about supplying the product, promoters like Warren know what fans want but balance their needs against risk/reward...Limond at this moment in time is high risk and low reward for someone like Murray to consider. If Willy feels that he has to put his money where his mouth is to further his career then we should all be behind him whatever belt he is fighting for...good luck Willy:deal

You lot are adding to the problem by even mentioning the bauble that's on the line. What you should be doing is simply stating Limond is fighting an opponent over twelve rounds. We should also be angling for Sky and Setanta to be taking the HBO approach and not mentioning any alphabets by name.

HBO act as if IBO/WBU etc don't exist and the major ones they refer to as "belt holders". I'm not sure what category they put WBO in but it's irrelavent. We all know who the real champ is in most cases.

We need to accept the alphabets are here for the forseable, no point whinging at the fighters for contesting them. I'm more inclined to whinge at the morons who claim a fight is for the ABC welterweight title or whatever. No, it's a twelve round fight.

i was at the gym today and thinking about this, i have been a bit unfair on you willie. i hope you understand my problem is with the WBU and the other alphabet belts which is think tarnishing boxing and not with you personally or as a boxer. i have always thought you were a good fighter and much more than "the guy who almost beat Khan"

the **** in mouth comment was directed at the guys on here that suck up to any pro boxer that comes on here. beleive me willie if you were not a member of this site or on the thread theres the comments about you fighting for the WBU would be worse than anything i have said. the comment was just banter but can see why you took it that way. but i would 100% say everything ive said to you here if i was sitting with you in a pub.

bobby gunn............theres your example of a bad boxer lol

the thrase "bum" is used by boxing fans around the world, its basicly slang for anyone thats fighting beyond there level. its been used for a long long time, just watch rocky...........apollo called him a bum.

the chances of what this guy from africa is saying his record is being true are slim to none.

    im in property now.

Willie, good luck, sounds like you need a bit. if you go and sell 2,000 tickets to a WBU show a decent promoter will stand up and take notice. just answer me this, name a british fighter that has had there career boosted by the WBU, that was not promoted by Frank Warren??

Sky and hatton are terrible, they would put WBU/IBO world champion under ricky hattons name. Hatton even calls himself a 7 time world champion (he counts the ibo and wbu)

Yeah OK Billy, you have been posting on ESB for 5 minutes & you have me all worked out:-(
Maybe you should read peoples posts properly & thoroughly before you come in shouting at guys like Rob & I.

Quite possibly the biggest insult I have ever had here, calling me negative about scottish boxing! Your lucky I m in a good mood tonight, or I would have given you it back & then some:good

This argument seems to have gotten out of hand, lets me just say this. My problem isnt about you, & it isnt about Willie Limond. Its THAT bloody WBU title.
I been posting on here for years & me & many others HATE that title. Try reading my earler post & just ignore the Billy Nelson comments & you will understand what my main gripe is, afer all, you are much more of a boxing intellect than this mere mortal who stands before you in awe;) Your words Billy Nelson, your words!

Oh & while I am here, why didnt you stick one on Gomez chin when he was hassling Ricky Burns? You stood back & did nothing!

You talk about being in peoples shoes. Now if I were in your shoes that day when Gomez was sticking the nut into a fellow scotsman...

    Seriously though folks,
Lets hear it for Billy Belson! Billy Nelson incase any scots, englanders welsh or irish dont know was part of team Harrison, my all time favourite fighter. now that we have a man of your standing here, the great Peter Harrisons(& I mean that, Peter was a great man for scottish pro boxing) natural successor here, lets forget the WBU argument & talk about the more tastier subject of Burns-Gomez, you got your strategy right for this fight?
Cos if Gomez somehow pulls of the win here Im holding you personally responsible!!!
