    in they're prime at middleweight
these are 2 very similar style fighters in my opinion with very similar ability
tough one to pick but i would say b-hop with a narrow SD the only difference i can see here is hopkins height and reach advantage
there is no way these guys are getting a knockout
this would be a ******* of a fight

    Hopkins via close, clear UD.

IMO this is a good stylistic match for B-Hop.

Hopkins' speed and longer reach will pose problems for Hagler, but I think Marvin will prevail in the end, as his tenacity enables him to execute Bernard via a late round TKO.

I like Hopkins intelligence advantage to sneak him home in a top matchup.

I'm not sure. Hopkins fought a couple of good fighters, but none of them was close to Hagler. I am not talking about RJJ since it was the only time B-Hop was clearly outpointed in his prime.

I would be interested how Hopkins would handle southpaw like Hagler. Someone may argue he fought good share of them, but again, it is not the quantity which counts in this case.

I do not think Hopkins size would be a serious problem either, Hagler had no problems with Hearns who had better reach than Hopkins.

i think hagler would win this one in a close but clear UD

i like haglers attitude of always going to win even if hes up on points as he never trusted judges in this fight.

i also like haglers speed and aggresion which would cause problems.

hopkins wouldnt be stopped hes too clever

Great chess match. While they're boxing, it's close. Down the stretch they start to brawl, and I think due to the intensity of the matchup that is inevitable. Hagler's greater punch volume and aggression seals the deal. Hagler close UD.

Hopkins is the better boxer, better defensively, better thinker and ring general. Hagler is no easy fight but Hopkins ring smarts see him outboxing Hagler for periods winning 8-4.

hagler would give hopkins hell and **** he may even hurt him and stop him or beat him over a decision ..but hopkins is JUST as capable of putting the same kind of asskicking on hagler .. it's one of those kinda fights ..kinda like that patterson foster thread

Hagler prefered aggressive opponents. Duran took a prime Hagler 15 rounds and did reasonably well, and Leonard won with superb ring generalship against a faded version. Duran certainly made Hagler look ordinary. IMO, a prime Hopkins would pose serious problems for him. I'm talking about the Hopkins from 5-8 years ago. Not the Hopkins from around the time of the Johnson fight. I think an aggressive Hopkins, within range, would still fair very well indeed. But if he moves often, feints, counters, and generally fights 'sneaky' he presents a tougher challenge for Hagler to overcome.

What Hopkins has by the bucketload that Duran and Leonard never, strength inside. Duran never liked it inside against Hagler, and Leonard never either, especially against the ropes.

Hopkins would've beaten Hagler. I think his strength, height, reach, technical ability, and most importantly his style are too much for Hagler.

Hopkins is almost a hybrid version of Hearns and Hagler.

Close fight....could go either way but Hagler had enough boxing ability speed and power to win this on points....at 160 Hopkins was a little drained and Marvin was comfortable...Hagler edge but close
