Darchinyan clearly stated that he's interested in facing 122 champion and top5 P4P-er Israel Vazquez, and the Mexican responded on Setanta.

"I'm very interested in a fight with Vic. He is a great fighter. A good champion, strong, and I look forward to it. If we can do it, then let's do it." :happy

Usually I don't like people jumping up and down in weight, but this would be an awesome fight, even with Vazquez being a very heavy favorite. They pretty much have the same size, same power and bring the same excitement to the ring, and huge respect for Darchinyan for chasing the seemingly impossible. What a true warrior he is!

Vazquez and Vic had sparring together in the past, and you wouldn't believe it, but Darchinyan has great respect for Izzy:

"He would love to fight me, I would love to fight him. I don't say I would love to fight him because I can knock him out or destroy him, we've already did some sparring together, and I know he's a great puncher, tough fighter. I just want to try out who is the best fighter in these classes. I'm not saying I'm gonna knock him out, I just want to fight and show I am confident, and who's better is going to win." said at the post-fight conference and again congratulated Arce for his courageous fight, showing real sportsmanship. He might be a loudmouth during the build-up, a Raging Bull inside the ring, but he's a good guy when it's all over.

Does anyone else think it's a terrific match-up, or Darchinyan simply asks too much, and it wouldn't be even competitive?

We've seen that Izzy can take bombs and keep coming. I just don't think that Vic's power will be the same factor in this fight as it has been in the past and I certainlly don't think that he can handle Izzy's power but then again Gonzalez had him down a few times so who knows.

Two of my favourite fighters, great fight but not sure who I'd want to win it.

You'd have to favor Izzy being the bigger man with an iron will and very serious power on his end. However Vic is a big guy with an incredibly awkward style and I tend to think his power will carry up a bit. I'd favor Izzy, but definitely not ruling out Vic in this one.

Vasquez KO 4. Different league. He would outbox and outbrawl Darchinyan.

I'd buy it on PPV. I'm not convinced it would be a blowout win for Vasquez. Darchinyan tends to box up or down to the level of his opponents, and the Marquez trilogy (plus a year of ring rust) probably took a ton out of Vasquez. Marquez has a much better style for convincingly beating Darchinyan (i.e. accurately countering, etc.).

I'd also love to see Darchinyan vs Caballero, which might end up being the most awkward looking fight in the history of boxing.

I think Izzy knocks him out, maybe early too. He would be too strong, too iron chinned, just too good.

Izzy's big punch is the left hook but he was doing extremely well with the straight right in the Marquez fights.

Vic has some big balls for even mentioning Vasquez. I doubt this fight will ever happen. Shaw would never allow it even if Vic pressed him for it.
