I feel as if I was better a few months ago than I am now. I seem to get hit more often and I've been missing them even more and before I wasnt afraid of getting hit but now when someone throws a punch I tend to blink. WTF. Could this be overtraining or maybe the hunger is gone? I've been training like there is a fight coming up since september but I have no fights coming up. What seems to be the problem? Should I take a beak?
It's mental. You've peaked, now you have to change gears a bit and take it easy. This is a post I saved in my personal training archive that i will share with you and I hope this serves you well. I believe that when training for "the training", one has to keep their head in the right place. Too much motivation is a not necessarily a good thing. Right now, I am going into my sophomore year at college while training for BUD/S. The temptation to drop out and try to get through BUD/S is sometimes overwhelming. Although I could pass the PST pretty easily, I just have to remind myself that I still have a long ways to go both physically and mentally. In the words of the great NSC sage, Rsct, "Training is a marathon." One of the last things you want to do in a marathon is to either cut it short or run at too fast a pace. Therefore to answer your question, "Where does the excess motivation go?" I believe it goes to one's head.
its just a bad patch, work through it and youll be back on top, you might be getting hit more because people you spar with have got used to your style, its a good reason to work on your flaws and find out why your getting hit more and work on it. its a tough sport and youve gotta take the rough with the smooth.
Everybody has periods of weakness. It makes you question what you're doing, but if you keep at it you'll be back to or even past your old level in no-time and everything will be okay again.
Yes of course. Don't worry mate perhaps you're just physically not as sharp as a few months ago. Last time I had that feeling I was in bed with the flu two days later. You're not a robot, **** happens.
i've been there too, the motivation is slowly coming back but I must admit its taking more time than i thought, just go out and enjoye yourself a bit stop training for a while or diminish your training and find some other stuff you like doing...other sports, see friends, after the break see where you are mentaly, how you feel and take it from there, and dont be scared to take a longuer break if you need to I think the key is to enjoye what you do if it becomes an obligation then the more you force yourself to stick to it the harder it will get, its also good to have bjectives to work towards....anyway thats my 2 cents hope it helps, just stay positive and think long term and chill =)
I think a good way to direct that extra motivation, or likely nervous energy, anticipation etc in a constructive direction. The brain is always a good thing to exercise, you could read up on your own training and nutrition, you could watch film, read up, and clean up on your training techniques.
It happens mate, I also was supposed to fight in October and have being training since, I was getting caught in sparring more than before and starting lose a bit of heart but we went sparring at another club and I did well, he couldn't touch me so my hunger is right back. I just want hurry up and fight though.
awesome dude...i used to train so hard everyday, i realized that it was effecting me negatively where I had too high standards. I think people underestimate the power of the mind. Now on my "easier" days I try to perfect technique
see how you feel sometimes a week is long enough but dont rush into it. wait till you know the time is right
