Lewis. Beat more contenders, was dominant for longer, and Tyson is one of the few great HW's to have lost to more less-than-great fighters than Lewis!
But he did that against a man i would fancy any version of Lewis to have beaten as well. Plus Lennox has a much more impressive record with many more recognisable names so in years to come boxrec is going to show that Lennox had a much more successful career against better oponents. I can see where you are coming from though
tyson no doubt..... and suckeggs it easy to see where you are coming from Lewis was a great champion..... but i believe that tyson was the more spectacular boxer... lewis did beat everyone he ever faced, but i dont think it would be untrue saying that he had a glass jaw... Tyson on the other hand was the most feared brutal hw with a full front attacking style and very spectacular... what tyson was in his best days was much more than lewis ever was.... but all the sad stories about tyson make it difficult to judge the guy fair....
Lewis and its not even close resume wise.. But on popularity alone Tyson will ALWAYS be remembered as a great.
Lewis is the greater HW on my list, but Tyson has the greater legacy. He will be remembered much more than Lewis. Similar to Ali having a greater legacy than Robinson.
Tyson for me Lewis was good and was more consistent but Tyson put boxing back on the map and has to be given credit for that. He was also one of the most exciting boxers I have ever seen.
Tyson will be remembered for being awesome for 4 years, ****, blowing his fortune and the rumors about his massive ****. Lewis will equally be remembered but purely in boxing terms.
Tyson will be remembered for 100 years from now. I say that hes legacy will be remembered longer than Lennox.
Harder question then it first appears. Lewis is the greater fighter and achieved more, but Tyson was something else, completely shook up the sport and was an absolute destroyer in his time. Tyson will be talked about in greater awe and for longer I suspect. So in the that respect, Tyson has the greater legacy, he left a greater mark upon the sport. Lewis is the greater fighter though.
Lewis fought better opponents, beat better opponents, avenged all his losses and was an all-round better and more complete heavyweight. But Tyson had a lot of crossover mainstream appeal, and was American, so in the fame stakes he wins hands down. It just depends on what exactly contributes a legacy.
