Froch closes in on Taylor fight

Carl Froch says he is "close" to finalising a deal to fight American Jermain Taylor in the first defence of his WBC super-middleweight title.
Negotiations have dragged on but the Nottingham boxer is confident the bout will take place in America in April. "We're very close to doing it," the 31-year-old told BBC East Midlands Today. "I could say 'if you're not coming to England I'm not fighting'.

Hope Taylor takes this, Froch is a big mouthed ****.

Wont be as easy as people are making out thogh. Froch is iron chinned and has good satmina and offense. pretty slow, and JT should outbox him to a clear decision, but Froch has a good chance to wear him down and get a KO.

In a hard fight - Winky, pavlik - Taylor doesn't seem to try to outwork the opponent, can't find the energy or maybe the desire to go that extra mile. I think that's what he means.

As to the guy who mentioned levels - ie Taylor too good, he been in with... - boxing is raely static. Guys on the way up, others maybe on the way down. It's about timing and may be the right time for the rookie champ Froch. Taylor might not have the strength or impact at 168 in a physical fight. His blemishes are the draining, hard, action fights - Winky, Pavlik. This could be another one.

If Taylor can outbox AND back up Froch he can win. He has to break Froch's heart ala Mosley - Margarito. For all JT's fabled jab, he is outreached and has to stand in range to get that jab off. In range to be hit by the bigger man. JT also pulls straight back, a habit of his which leaves him open to a long jab-right.

he was beaten into submission when he met pavilik, i wouldnt like to say between froch and pavilik who hits harder p4p but i reckon taylor will underestimate froch bigtime and get roughed up for his troubles

stamina and power isnt gonna be a good mix for taylor

I think Froch could plop himself when the fight nears. He looked a bit edgy when Pascal stared him out but Taylor with his accomplishments in the ring might hit home to Froch just what Taylor could do when he stares him out.Still, Froch will believe he`s the one to win the fight.
