did everyone notice this fight was at 168????so why is jones leading the poll.
i admit at 175 jones prime for prime would be the winner but at 168 calzaghe wins all day, every day.

Many will argue that Jones at 168 was better then he was at 175. A prime Jones beats any version of Joe ALL DAY, ANY DAY....:deal

Exactly! Well, i don't think it's really an argument, pretty much fact.

I'm not trying to start an argument here, but from this post I know for a FACT that you have never seen Roy Jones fight at 168 around '94-'96. Don't lie, you have not. 168 was Jones's prime peak fighting weight, he would blow Joe away no doubt.

At one time I would have unhesitatingly picked Roy without even giving it thought.

However, Calzaghe has proven to be a more difficult opponent against serious opposition than many imagined.

In terms of what each man brings to the Ring:

Speed: Roy (by a small margin)

Skill: Again, Roy (even if he wasn't conventional, he had the moves)

Ring Generalship (Roy by a small margin. He usually dictated the progress of the fight)

Power: Roy (One punch KO power in either hand)

    Quality of opposition faced: Roy

Defence: Roy (again, unconventional but his athleticism saved his ass)

Stamina: Joe (by a small margin)

    Chin: Joe

    Heart: Joe

This fight would not be a walk in the park for Roy. It would be his toughest test, much more of a challenge than his bout with Toney.

Joe could win it by either KO or points, depending on how Roy deals with (or fails to deal with) the pressure.

    But that's unlikely.

    In probability terms:

    Joe by stoppage: 5 %
    Joe by decision: 20%
    Draw, NC, etc: 2 %
    Roy by decision: 63%
    Roy by stoppage: 10 %

IMO, the most likely outcome would be 7-5 or 8-4 in Roy's favour.

    Who knows?

I pick Joe by SD but it's one of them that could go either way, whoever is best on the night.

Calzghe's style would cause Jones big problems but one thing for sure is that neither of these in their absolute primes are getting "blown away" by anybody at that weight ever.

I would say prime for prime at 168 RJJ wins a close but clear UD againest JC.However I don't see it as the forgone conclusion some think and I don't think JC gets stopped.

No it wouldn't. His aggressive style and tendency to expose his chin would play right into RJ's style. RJ isn't a guy who goes after guys but if he's attacked, he has plenty of chances to counter. Most guys that RJ has KOed are guys who came after him and RJ happily took them out. Guys who went the distance against RJ were guys who were tentative and weren't willing to take chances and RJ being the safe fighter that he is, was more than happy to win a wide UD.

Jones KO round 5-7! Jones at his prime was fast had really quick and hard punches! Remember that Calzaghe himself in one interview said that Jones was unbeatable and that he couldn't belive that somebody could catch him with punches because of how fast Jones was! Calzaghe wouldn't stand a chance, Jones would smash him into pieces......

I don't think Calzaghe could beat Ruiz, to be honest. He doesn't fight like Jones and he would be in close throwing his volume of punches and ruiz would catch him with one of his sneaky grab-in right hands.
