Why was James Toney, Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga heavily disciplined for taking steroids and Mosley got away with it? Fernando Vargas claimed he unknowingly was given Roids by his nutritionist. Ricardo Mayorga denied taking steroids. James Toney claimed taking them for medical reasons. WHILE Shane Mosley clearly took them to enhance his performance. Is this fair?
james toney has been caught twice taking steroids and barely had to take a break between fights. i am not sure of the rules in the uk, but i remember tony oakey a british light heavy champ getting caught taking a recreational drug (marujuana ) i think but it might have been something else i forget and he received a 1 year ban and had to serve it. i am guessing in the uk 2 steroid offenses and you would be banned for life but i do not know.
Probably because he NEVER tested positive. And the drugs in question were not illegal at the time of thte fight.
When was the other time Toney got caught for steriod abuse? Obviously after the Ruiz fight, can't remember the other time, was it after one of the Peter fights? Ridiculous lenght of suspension anyway, he was back 6 months after the Ruiz fight. Like sean said you'd get double that for recreational drug use over here.
Also Mosley is more of a "Golden Boy" then the other 3 and would probably have less attention drawn to it by the powers of being. I like Mosley dont get me wrong but out of those 4 guys I can see Shane getting away with a little more then the others.

They got caught immidiatly after the fight plus they tested positive. Mosley never tested positive and nothing was ever proven until like 5 years later.
The reason Mosley tested positive is because they were designer steroids that could go un detected, once they knew what to look for the requested shane give another UA and he declined, that spells it out for you, he knew :nono
