I just watched Meldric Taylor vs Julio Cesar Chavez 1 & 2. Meldrick murdered this guy in the first fight. I had the first fight scored 10-1. I gave the 10th round to Chavez. I watched it again just to make sure that I had it right and again gave Chavez only won the 10th round. Meldrick dominated and SCHOOLED Chavez. He showed him how to box. He outpunched him and MADE HIM LOOK AMETUER AT TIMES. To those that will tell me the fight was competitive I'm just sayin Taylor was winning the "boxing match" and he was winning "the fight." TAYLOR DESERVED THOSE LAST 2 SECONDS TO STAND UP ON HIS OWN 2 FEET!!!!!!!!!!:deal In Meldrick vs Chavez 2 you could clearly see Meldrick wasn't what he was. It's a damn shame the ref made a WRONG CALL IN THE 1ST MELDRICK VS CHAVEZ 2 AS THAT RUINED MELDRICK'S CAREER! LEMME KNOW WHAT YA'LL THINK
Could agree more. Richard Steele and Don King stole Taylor's victory from him. I thought it was an outrage when I first saw it nearly 20 years ago, and I still think it's outrage. One of the worst, most unjustified, and CORRUPT stoppages I have ever seen.
i think its strange for someone who is murdering his opponent to get dominated so bad in the last round of a fight. It was a closer fight than you make it out to be. Taylor was clearly winning although Chavez was hurting him. The 12th round was a beatdown. Everything Taylor threw was getting countered. At some point he gets hit with a left hook I think and does some sort of chicken dance but stays on his feet.. Great fight. controversial ending. Kind of like Bute vs Andrade but on a whole other level.

A fight is not over until the last second. The ref asked if he wanted to continue and he didn't respond. Therefore Chavez won.
steele knew that there were less than 10 seconds in the fight. he should not have stopped it. a good ref must always be aware of the time and decide accordingly. if there were 20 secs left, a stoppage would have been warranted.
