They were arguing about the refs decision in Martinez-Cintron...and then he said halfway in either "Don't be an imbecile" or "Damn you're an imbecile." The best part is Lennox lead into it with "hey hey hey hey...." Lennox was on something strong last night and ACTUALLY did a hilarious job. If you're not gonna make the show better with astute commentary, You can at least make me laugh. The idea is to entertain and Lennox Lewis was damn entertaining last night. Kellerman knew his **** for the most part last night and did a decent job. Bob Papa needs to do something else with his time.
This is Boxing not a documentary...who cares about Grammer..Lewis brings fighting experience to his comments ( I think he is good) Kellerman has improved) but he is a kid who has never gotten into fight so he just brings the FAN aspect......He loves Boxing and brings enthusiasum but I like Merchant because he will speak truth to the fighters faces...Crazy Larry
What are you doing over here? Shouldn't you be over on the lounge making up stuff about the republicans?
Yup. Anyone else wish they could have seen Merchant talk to Campbell about the weight issue? IMO it would have been classic and I think Larry might have up and shot his mouth off and said something a little TOO true and really pissed Nate off.
what pissed me off is at the very beginning of the show they put up the 5 top faces of the 154lb division it was Dzinziruk, Santos, Forrest, Williams, and Martinez. Kellerman completely ignores Dzinziruk and Santos. WTF. Forrest is shot, Williams is still unproven, and Martinez is even more unproven. Santos is a 3 time world champion and Dzinziruk is undefeated with a few quality wins including a win over Santos. Why ignore them?
Well it's simple business. HBO pretty much has Williams and Martinez right now. Dzinziruk probably isn't coming to HBO anytime soon and as for Santos? I guess they just don't care about him as much. Remember while HBO mentioned Vernon Forrest it was more of a "but he's old and fading anyway". Paul Williams is their big time push right now.
Max is annoying. I find him tolerable in small doses (ie. in-studio segments on Friday Night Fights, etc). However listening to him for an entire broadcast is next to impossible. Some of his non sequiturs sound like he cribbed them from Larry Merchant. Lennox is okay, but I would rather have someone who can add to the broadcast. Even if they brought back Roy Jones or Foreman, I would be happy. BTW, anyone else love when Lennox would disagree with Harold and when Harold would respond, his microphone was turned off?
Thank you Kenmore! If There is an ESB hall of fame we should be the first inductees. You are a contemporary on many fronts Don't know if the new management will have me author an article but my last one from over five years ago, "Sad state of boxing" has been plagiarized and quoted on for as many years. Max K. is an idiot. If someone could put a youtube video up of Lewis insulting him and post the link on here that would be optimal.
Exactly. The could get Al Bernstein, probably the best commentator in the sport, and instead they replace Merchant with this unqualified punk. Like some boxing journalist said, that's like replacing Elvis with the guy who does Elvis paintings outside of Graceland. Hopefully they dump this clown as soon as his contract's up!:yep
