I am a big Haye fan and would love to see him against Klitschko, but does 2 cruiser victories over Mormeck and Maccarionelli, and then Barrett push him above Povetkin. When he originally announced fighting Vitali Gomez was quick to assert his mandatory status. However Povetkin seems to have a double whammy over his training injury and looks really stuffed, especially if there is a clause saying Haye must fight the other brother if he wins. I would like Haye to replicate how he suceeded at Cruiser by capturing the European crown first. One reason boxing is in such a mess is because fighters choose not to go down the traditional route of being the champ of their Country and then their Continent. So many fights are missed this way. I want to see the heavy weight division sort itself out ready for the new generation of contenders. Both Klitchko's should sort out their mandatory obligations first, and the WBA needs to have 1 champion. Haye could then come in at the latter part of 2009. Also Rogan has done brilliant, but why is his fight with Skelton a non title fight?
I don't want Haye-Skelton because I think Matt will get KTFO. I want Skelton-Valuev I think I have "Frank Bruno syndrome" with Matt, I'm desperate to see him win a World Title.
I spoke to martin ast month about this its not for the euro title as martin is not ranked in the top 10 however if he wins skelton will be stripped of the title and rogan will be installed as #1 and will fight for the vacant title
It would be hard to get Skelton another world title shot.... Does Valuev have any involvement with Don King - if he does I could see it happening at some stage in the near future..... with Chagaev being inactive for a while (again). The Rogan fight seems like a 'stay busy' assignment.... no disrespect intended, but all Marty has done to date is beat Audley Harrison.
Skelton doesnt interest me in the slightest, perfect oponent to make David look bad before a title fight. I would prefer somebody more recognizable and more conventional, maybe a tall guy like a McCline..he is big, strong and a stoppage win would look very good going into a Klit fight. Maybe not worth the risk if Haye is close to signing though...
