David Haye V Bob Foster at old and new cruiser limit

At 190 I think Foster takes Haye. He is the same height and reach as Haye. At around 190 Foster was able to cut Ali and stun Frazier. Add to this the fact that Haye has to sweat another 10lbs out. Foster has a great jab and his right can wreak havoc.

At 200 it becomes a lot closer but i still think Foster is good enough to beat Haye.

 

I don't recall him stunning Frazier at all.

 

The gap in experience is the keystone in this encounter.

It is a common opinion that Haye would steamroll Foster. Frazier did just that, but look at the difference in fighting posture, pressure and short punches.

Haye stands up-right, relying on the turn of his left shoulder, that is where Foster would look to sink in that viscous counter right. Haye is also guilty of lunging and applies a readable combo of left hook-straight right.

These are aspects that a man of the stature of Foster should pick up on and punish. Now there is always the potential of Haye rushing Foster's weakness of giving ground, but with those whipping shots, Foster was far better at slugging with success.

Foster stood very similar to Haye with the draped left, but his form was far better, all crumpled up with the smart use of a lateral dip to the right.

These fundamental differences and veteran observations should exploits Hayes vulnerabilities and introduce him to the canvas, eventually for keeps.

 

I dont see where anyone could assume Foster could beat a solid heavyweight contender, despite his run ins with Ali and Frazier? Haye done beat Monte Barrett, while Foster got knocked out by Ernie Terrell and Doug Jones. Foster went life and death with Dick Tiger for four rounds, and that was the old Tiger. I say Haye's speed and power over comes Foster. But he has to do it early.

 

I have a hard time picking Foster over Haye.

I just think that he relied too heavily on his physical advantages and ran into trouble when these were removed.

Foster is dynamite up to 175 lbs but runs into trouble at 176.

Having said that I do think that he caried his power up to heavyweight absolutely.

 

I'd pick Foster to counter Haye in one of his many faults and turn his lights out. Although I also think Foster would have to get the job done quickly as Haye could just as easily turn Foster's lights out as well.

As soon as Foster landed it was game over. Tiger had been game up until that point but did not manage to visibly bother Foster.

 

Depends who lands first. But with Haye low guard and reliance on his reflexes I think Bob will land first.

I think Haye would spark Foster out at either but it would be early at 200lbs.

Haye has massive physical advantages.

 

Yeah, nearly decapitating a iron chinned guy in one punch equals going life and death with him, right?

Foster would have a BIG chance against Haye.

Didn't Haye fight as a LHW for his first two pro fights? If so, Foster destroys that version.

But within the parameters discussed? Hmmm, I wouldn't wanna' say.

Head says Haye but heart says Foster. Foster, takes a Haye right hands just on the scuff of the neck with almost accidental movement, desperate slip if you will, trying to avoid the Hayemaker.....BANG, Foster unloads with a left hook that hits Haye on the temple, and Haye has a struggle to get up, doing a Montell Griffin/Zab Judag dance until the referee rescues him at about 4.

Haye had one fight ,early in his career where he weighed less than 190 [189] he would be too big for Foster.
