My guess is that Wlad isn't the kind of person who wants members of his team talking too much to the public about the business end of things. It isn't considered classy to do so. Just because Shannon Briggs goes on a rant, doesn't mean that anyone really has to go on record to correct his ramblings. A person can spend his entire life doing nothing but correcting falsehoods if that was the case. Of course Shannon Briggs is going to say things to put himself in a positive light, and try to get fans hyped up about him... and/or a showdown with Klitschko. However, a person with a level head wouldn't just go believing something just because Briggs said so. Just like you wouldn't just believe it if Wlad said different. You really have two ways about it. Either you were a part of it and actually know the details and what happened... or you CHOOSE to believe one side or the other. That's just the way it is.

You know we love you Chef, but this is just the way it is.

Wlad doesn't care what the people think, but he wants us to care what he thinks.

He feels inaccessible to the Western public, and is cold and distant to us.

All of the many champions OnTheGrind has received as guests were very gracious to bless us with their time, and we have been suprised by the humility of all.

Wlad is above all of this though.

Does anyone disagree that Wlad should have fought Briggs instead of Rahman?

I don't see why Briggs would have been a step up. Briggs had not fought in a year and a half. In his second to last fight he was on the verge of losing a decision while doing next to nothing in the fight only to stop his opponent who was just exhausted and fell through the ropes with 1 second left. The last fight he lost by a relatively easy UD against Sultan Ibragimov, who Wlad then dominated. So, we have an inactive Briggs who lost his last fight and almost his last two. Is saying himself that he wouldn't have been 100% on short notice... who is also playing this physically handicapped role for all it's worth talking about his asthma. He's a year older than Rahman to boot, and less accomplished. You really see Wlad getting any credit for that one? At least Rahman was active, and hadn't lost a fight in a couple years. Also Rahman was the highest rated available opponent.

Besides that, if Wlad didn't fight Rahman he would now be locked up by the IBF without the ability to have a big voluntary defense.

Yeah on paper Rahman didnt lose a fight in a few. He went to hell and back and "No Mas" against Toney

He beat Toney for the first 2 rounds, and then was caught and cut by a headbutt in the 3rd. Toney was completely ineffective until Rahman's vision was ruined by the headbutt. After Rahman obviously couldn't see clearly, Toney was able to get off some right hands. The fight was stopped because Rahman gave an honest answer about not being able to see clearly. It was correctly ruled a "No contest". I really don't see what the big deal is? I don't expect many people to fight or beat James Toney while half blind. I also don't see anything wrong with Rahman being honest about his vision which EVERYONE could tell was clearly screwed by that headbutt. I don't think that fight proved anything for either guy. If anything, it showed that BEFORE the headbutt, while Rahman could still see clearly... he was beating Toney without much trouble.
