Who Wins at 115? Darchinyan vs Donaire?

Hard to tell, really. Donaire will always have the style advantage, he counters with the left extremely well, so Darchinyan might have tough time to win at any weight. But Vic not only became much more focused, patient and technically better, he grew in weight well, now physically stronger, and took some big shots vs. Arce, so I don't think one punch can finish him off anymore. That was an intentional punch by Donaire, but also a bit lucky to landing PERFECTLY.

Right now, how Vic fights, there's like 80% less chance of getting caught by that very punch. The first fight wasn't a shutout anyway. Press row had it 38-38 after 4, and while most of us had Donaire winning all rounds, Darchinyan became stronger and stronger. Quite ironically, he was caught when he started to land some nasty punches, so Donaire won big.

But today, Vic is a much faster starter and more alert when moving in. Still getting caught by the left time to time, but not when he sets up punches with the jab. He also countered Arce and Mijares well more than a few occaisions, and he might not rush in at all vs. Donaire. Then what will Nonito do? We just don't know how good would Donaire be moving forward, trying to outbox Dachinyan instead of waiting to counter. If Vic is not rushing in, and it's a boxing match, Nonito will find a surprisingly good defender in front of him, watch the Mijares fight.

Vic loses this fight again. He may be more cautious and lose by UD. i dont think he really changed that much, its that his opponents were afraid getting into the ring with him. Nonito's got the mental and physical advantages. Fortunately, Vic's promoter wont let this happen.

 

Then again: Vic is still vulnerable for counter lefts moving in, but offers much less chances nowadays. And if he completely throws out the aggressive game plan, and it's a boxing match defensive, counter-punching minded, he might outbox Donaire without suffering serious damage. Mijares never stopped trying, but Vic showed very good defense and effective countering without getting caught. The way he rushed in vs Nonito and the almost lucky way the counter left landed perfectly, is something never going to happen again. Darchinyan is not stupid. In fact, he's damn good in boxing mode. And if it's a boxing match, it's 50/50 IMO.

 

You cant call something lucky if it was happening through out the fight. Nonito is very quick to adapt to any of his opponents and has the power to hurt Vic. Vic likes to overpower and intimidate his opponents. Nonito announced in his interview before the fight what he was going to do to Vic. He did it precisely. If this turned out to be a boxing match, nonito would win it by UD.

If you were making as much money as Vic why the **** would you rematch Donaire and risk your future income stream? I beleive that if Vic fought Donaire again he would KO him but obviously his management have their doubts. I see Donaire getting progressively more frustrated about the likeliness of a rematch and getting walloped by someone else in his pursuit of another fight with Vic. Donaire will go nowhere.

nothing lucky about that punch. vic was getting hit by those hooks since the early rounds.

 

Let Donaire taste defeat like Vic did and then get off his arse and build his career again!

 

Great points Bigbone. The others here just don't seem to get it.

 

Vic is still open to the counter left hook and Donito has a nice, precise left hook as well as an effective overall counter-punching style to give Vic fits every time. I will always favor Donaire over Vic.

 

Oh he doesnt need to lose. What he needs is a promoter who is reasonable enough to give the best fights for his fighter. Shaw was dumped because of this, and wont give Vic the chance to redeem his embarrassing loss. Nonito over Vic will always be remembered.:deal
