Talented fighters that when matched up against perceived lesser fighters their ability was shown to be not as great as you'd thought?

The first name that automatically pops into my head is Vernon Forrest. Two losses to Mayorga, controversial win over a faded Quartey. Drops a decision to Mora when Forrest himself was faded, yet was still heavily favored.

I also want to say Mijares but I'll give him some leeway until he fights again. Darchinyan is a great fighter but he made Mijares look extremely average.

I remember when Max Kellerman said that the Klitschkos would never become world champions, that they could not fight, but that Audley Harrision was going to become the next heavyweight world champion and would dominate! LOL! I guess Teddy Atlas agreed with him?

I'm afraid my crystal ball has Gamboa popping up in this thread.

    Molitor was a big disappointment.

    Zab Judah.

Gamboa will be fine, trust me.

Molitor can still bounce back, losing against Cabellero means ****, how many times is he gonna' come across a fighter like that in his career??? If Cabellero were to beat Vasquez, Marquez and JuanMa Molitor wouldn't look so stupid.

Judah has never really been technical. He's sloppy as hell.More a guy that gets by on athleticism, speed and power than skills.

Curry and Chatchai Sasakul are two i'd say fit here.

Agreed with Mantequilla, Zab is not a good choice, what with his lack of technical/tactical skills and all, which is precisely what this thread was about in the first place.

That's a great example. Tremendous talent but very little in terms of boxing intelligence.

I too was high on Steve Molitor but Caballero put a damper on that. To be fair it was a bad bad styles match up for the guy and Cabellero was just on that night. Molitor can still bounce back but he's going to have a long road aho.
