i just looked it up since 2000. it could be one of the worst list of guys i have ever seen. Warren Williams 2000 Sedrick Fields 2000 Eddie Curry 2000 Russel Chasteen 2001 Jason Waller 2001 Reynaldo Minus 2001 L UD Jamil McCline 2002 Marvin Hill 2003 John Sargent 2003 Wade Lewis 2003 Jeff Pegaseus 2004 Demtrice King 2005 Abrham Okine 2005 Ray Mercer (46 years old) 2005 Brian Scott 2005 Luciano Zolyone 2005 Dicky Ryan 2006 Chris Koval 2006 Sergei Lycovich 2006 L UD12 Sultan Ibragimov 2007 inactive for 20 months and counting and he is calling out Klitschkos? WTF has he done to warrant shooting his fat lazy mouth off? His resume is damn near embarrassing. puts everything in perspective. rofl
Guy lost to Sedreck Fields, that's gotta be a record.Plus I hated him for getting that gift against Foreman. Anyway I thought he is retired.
It is a horrible resume, but you can't really blame him for calling out the Klitschko's all he has to do is stand there and get pummeled for $10 million.
There are worse records in existence. I met him in person, he is a nice man. Despite his character, the record would definitely need a boost in the "name" department. If he is not retired, I would enjoy seeing a cross roads fight between he and Holyfield. A battle that if one loses, then they honestly have to bail on boxing.
Shannon would be another dude that just shows up to fight Klitschko for a retirement payday. If he got into shape and came to win, he could make that fight real interesting, but that is a humongous "if" imo. Briggs is done.
The bottom line is Briggs is a complete non factor in the Heavyweight Division today. And he thinks he can step into a title shot after being off for 20 months? :rofl
Holyfield lost to Iggy and had a long layoff, returned for a title shot. Why wouldn't Briggs get to do the same, he is an even more recent former champion...??? If Briggs is in shape he is a threat to any HW.
Uh, because Holyfield is a living legend who is probably the only active heavyweight 90% of the world can name? Don't get me wrong, Holy didn't deserve his title shots either, but at least he brings something to the table. As for Briggs, on a good day he has the proverbial puncher's chance and that's about it.
On the other hand he's fought twenty times in eight years. Not many heavyweights, regardless of level, can claim that. Briggs is done. He's just waiting for a payday right now, and given his name, he might get one. He needs to stay in fighting shape and maybe he'll get a call to be a late sub like Rahman did. And he'll probably perform about as well as Rahman did last time out, too.
:roflatsch The guy got schooled by Sultan Ibragimov for christ sakes! People say Wlad Klit is boring have they ever watched a Briggs fight? The guy throws 10 punches a round and stands flat footed in the center of the ring. He is lazy and out of shape. Maybe he can get his daddy Don King to get him in an eliminator but other than that he should be nowhere near a title shot right now.
True, his resume since 2000 is very weak, there are only 4 good fights in it. He definetelly hasn't earned a shot at the Klits. If only he had beaten Ibragimov, then it would be a different story and Briggs vs Wlad would surely have happened. The guy is asthmatic and doesn't keep himself in shape, which in his case is totally necessary. How is he going to lose 40-50lbs, in 3-4 months, with asthma, to get in the needed shape in order to compete with the top HWs? To me Briggs is as good as retired. 245-250lbs in shape focused version of Briggs is a fighter that can still compete with anybody out there. 270lbs plus version of Briggs is nothing but a punchbag for any of todays top HWs.
When was Briggs ever a two time world heavyweight champion? He was linear after 'beating' Foreman..... and challenged Lewis for the WBC. Don't see anything else.
