In this case it will be Pacquiao, the brawler against Hatton, the boxer.

PAC recently has shown a VERY soild Jab, both in the last JMM, Diaz and DLH fights. Hatton in his last fight had a very sharp HARD jab that worked well against a fighter he had no worries throwing it against in Paulie b/c lets be real....Hatton wasn't scared of being hurt one bit by anything thing in Paulie's arsenal. But never the less....his jab looked good all things considered.

There is always a choice for the more dynamic or skilled boxer. Backing up is only a NON option for fighters with limited skill sets. PAC doesn't back up, he circles, uses lateral movent and angles to avoid getting pinned on the ropes.

They will collide but it won't be "WARD/GATTI esq" It will be more "Toney vs Jirov Esq". Early on PAC will have to be cautious...earn Hatton's respect and keep to the game plan. Hatton will be dangerous for at least the 1st half of the fight.

We may witness the end of Manny Steward if it's Toney - Jirovesque.

Not sure he can take that again. :D

I also think that post by blue apollo is a good post, but I've got a feeling Hatton will stick to his boxing brain longer than Pacquiao and it will not be long before one of them gets over eager and jumps in caution to the wind.

You know Jirov hasn't ever been the same after that fight....damn shame b/c he was THE BEST CW in the world until JT did that to him. I loved Vasilly. Sad the way things have gone for him.

We might see Hatton look like a completely different fighter....but being one style for so long Sr can only do so much before instict kicks in and what he's done in camp flies out the window. You need a long time to begin effective reprogramming of boxers who have been in the sport for this long.....DLH took a WHILE until the things Sr was teaching began to become instincutal and not FORCED. We'll see what goes down in MAY..whatever happens this is a GREAT fight for boxing and fans.

He'll always have my respect after that fight.

With his style though, you just don't have that many years at the top.

No, you have to appreciate his subtleties, which he doesn't always stick to, but when he uses them he can do very well. He hasn't got to where he is with no boxing skills and mindless brawling and wrestling.

rickys boxing skills < rickys mindless brawling and wrestling

i still think hatton best chance is mindless brawling and wrestling and catching pac during a exchange.

He has already shown he has more than that so this thread is directed at the likes of yourself and the previous poster who do not see it. I think you would be surprised.
