What's the best full round of boxing you have ever seen?

Jack Dempsey vs Luis Angel Firpo,round 1,unbelievable action,Firpo going down 7 times to come back and put Dempsey through the ropes.

 

Great round - Great fight. Both fighters fought way above their level in that fight, especially Earl.

I watched it live, sat in the third row. As great a fight as that was, it was easily outshone by the highlight of the night when Fraudley Harrison fell out of the ring:rofl

 

the greatest round was round 1 of hagler and hearns imo. 2 truely great fighters at there peak who hated each other really bad and just wanted to take the others head clean off there shoulders. neither man would take a backward step and threw bomb after bomb at an intensity that you just don't see in the fight game.

they both must have been ****ed after that 1st round and known there was not a prayer of that fight going the distance. they knew that one of them was going to get KTFO.


a personal favourite of mind is round 9 of hagler v leonard. hagler had started to get on top in that fight and hagler got ray goin on the ropes but he thought '**** it' and went toe to toe with hagler like the true legend he is - love that round.

 

I know exactly what you mean. Maybe you are right, but I defy you to find someone who can watch that round and have no reaction. Sometimes a fight is just a fight, and that's not always a bad thing.

The OP also pointed out the problem with comparing everything to Hagler - Hearns. It's like holding a flashlight up to the sun to see which one is brighter.

 

Not what I said, Gatti was world class but the ward trilogy was conference league. look at Wards record before the first fight. Gatti was world class but not in any of these three fights. Admitadley he was very good at super feather and had notable success in higher weight classes but he won his light welter title against a tosser. My argument Ward fought and beat Shea Neary wow, and he lost to every ranked man more or less on his journey. So my friend Gatti was world class but Ward was not and it is gatti to Foreman and Ward to Lyle I compare.

Has to be Gatti Ward, true they are not elite fighters but you can not fault there heart and courage in that round, amazing how Gatti comes back and keeps going

 

There are so many good candidates here but the first one that came to my midn when I read the thread title is Morales vs Barrera 1 rd 5 so I'll stick with that one.

 

Read again you are making little sense. Ward although good was actualy **** in the eyes of the broader boxing fan. Ron Lyle was well known and his record speaks for itself although he was beaten by the top men but is however ranked as one of the hardest hitters of all time and well just look at who he fought and gave trouble. Ward was never really a world title threat unless you include his win over the world renowned Neary or a Gatti trilogy which quite honestly has made them enough money through pure style match which endears them to the wider public. Their fights were brilliant but actualy basic so styles and all that. Gatti only ever impressed me when he learned how to box or should we all get on the ufc band wagon
