No, I never remember any talks or serious negotiations for Spinks's welterweight title. Just a staredown at a press conference and some hype, but the closest they were to actually fighting was in the summer of 2006 when they were in negotations to fight in the fall of 2006 for Spinks's belt at 154.

Mayweather ended up fighting Baldomir instead. People were for the most part, happy at the time in the choice of Baldo over Stinks, but PBF-Cory would've been a more competitive fight.

No. They were on different paths. Not to mention, Mayweather may have been @ 135 still.

They talked of fighting a couple years ago. Thank god that fell apart. Wuold be a horrible fight.

I don't know I think when Cory was the man at 147 this would've been an intriguing step up for PBF. Corey is very hard to hit and has a fast sneaky straight left that may have given Floyd problems. The 1st Judah-Spinks fight was actually a pretty good scrap, but probably because Zab had the power to get to Cory.

I still wish this fight would havd come off. Spinks-PBF would have been an interesting matchup. Cory is a southpaw with long arms and a good jab with good speed, good movement and a good counter-puncher. We've never seen PBF in the ring with someone like Spinks before and I think he would have caused PBF some problems because of this.

Yeah, Judah-Spinks I was actually fairly enjoyable. The rematch less so, but a more satisfying and definitive conclusion.

I agree,a brutal, life and death, drag em' out monster of a battle. The sheer unprecedented carnage and violence would have been horrible to watch,i agree, and would have lead to the banning of the sport.
