Have a strange Aust boxing legend/kickbox story, but it occurred overseas and can't be the one you're looking for (might share it later). Will throw out another question to keep the thread busy: QUESTION: Looking for the names of a couple more of Ambrose Palmer's boys. 1/ Better known by nickname than given name. Had relatively short career and fought majority of bouts at Festival Hall. Won Aust light heavyweight title by KO. 2/ Fough undefeated as a welterweight for about 20 bouts over 4 years. Retired for 8 years. Came back as a middleweight for another 10 years, for a mixed bag of wins & losses. Career spanned in total about 23 years.
The night Stretch fought Bertucci was one of them Cinderella fights you can only dream of. Throughout this fight Bertucci was shellacking Stretch and there were numerous times when Stretchs trainer was going to throw in the towel also Stretchs' face was cut up badly. The referee had also told Stretch that due to the cuts the seventh would be his last and that is when a mini miracle happened. Stretch threw a punch out of nowhere that landed flush on Bertuccis' jaw knocking him out cold. The crowds were still out the front of festival hall a couple of hours later when Stretch left after being attended by the Doc. Sadly this win would be Stretchs last and he would later meet with more misfotune. But I,ll bet anyone who saw that fight will never forget it as long as they live. ps MR to Rodin DR to Kanga
