It seems each day someone is starting a new thread about their current P4P list and while many have Vic in their Top 10, I feel the guy still is NOT getting the acholades and respect he should be getting.

Most people are ranking Mosley, Calderon, Williams, and even Lopez above him. All these guys DO NOT deserve to rank higher than Vic.

Lets take Mosley for example. He seems to be ranked the highest out of the list of fighters mentioned above, and is most people's choice as P4P #5. Now please answer me this question: What has Mosely done to warrant a spot higher than Vic???? Lets take recent form and analyse both their last 4 fights for example:

    Vic:
    ===
    - Beats top 5 super flyweight Gorres (I don't care what people say about the draw, Vic clearly won this fight, it was outright robbery in the Phillipines)
    - Completely destroys Top 5 super flyweight and IBF champ Kirilov
    - Completely destroys No.1 super flyweight Mijares and becomes first man to ever unify the division (Mijares considered to be P4P #5 on most people's list and considered one of the best defensive boxers at the time)
    - Completely destroys long time top super flyweight Arce

    Mosley:
    =====
    - Easily outpoints Top WW Collazo
    - Loses close decision to Cotto
    - Knocks out brawler Mayorga
    - Completely destroys Margarito

Now I agree Mosley's win over Tony was sensational, and if people are going by the theory "when you beat a P4P fighter you become a P4P fighter yourself", then Mosley desrves to replace Margarito's spot at P4P #6. Vic's win over P4P #5 Mijares was just as impressive (especially when you include the unification on the line), however people do not give him the same recognition.

He became the first man to unify the division. I guarantee you, if Mosley had unified the WW division people would start talking about moving him alongside Pac as P4P #1. Vic does it and some idiots say he is knocking on the door of the top 10.

And for those of you who try to rebut this by saying "he got KTFO by Donaire" obivously have not seen his most recent fights and the adjustments he has made since then. He is not the same reckless fighter he was back then.

Now P4P lists should represent current form and quality of opposition faced in recent fights, and NOT based on reputation and what you have achieved in the past (which is the reason I believe a lot of you are putting Mosley so high). Honestly anyone who doesn't have him at least at #5 is not truly representing the current crop of fighters and their ranking based on recent achievements and form.

Just for the record my top 5 P4P looks like this:
    1. Pac
    2. JMM
    3. B-Hop
    4. Vic
    5. Iszy

Just for the record your top 5 P4P looks ****.

    Vic at No.4, my arse.

In my view the guy is getting too much praise; and its strange because the majority of the praise is coming off the back of his victory over a washed-up Arce, rather than the more impressive display against Mijares. For Christs sake there was a Vic Darchinyan v Prime Naz thread the other day...........and over 10 people picked Vic to win!!!!

    Too much praise my ass.

Still haven't answered the question. How do any of those fighters deserve to rank higher right now? Margarito beats Cotto and enters straight as P4P #6, Mosley beats Margarito and moves up to P4P #5, Vic beats P4P #5 Mijares and the idiots on this forum say he still isn't worthy. Seriously it's no wonder this forum loses credibility.

He would come into my list at about 8 or 9; putting him at 4 is way too high in my opinion. I love watching the lower weight classes (any division from BW down), but what you have to realise is that there is somewhat of a weight bias in boxing in favour of the heavier fighters. Think about how long it has taken Calderon to crack the list (many years), and even now he is only in the very lower reaches. I just can't see how Vic can be ranked in the top 5 P4P, ahead of guys who have been plying their trade at world-class for a lot longer (win or lose).

BTW was Mijares ever ranked as high as 5? I find that astounding. Not saying its not true, just can't personally recall him ever being ranked up there.

I don't now how a Sexual Panda behaves :D but you have very legitimate points.

I guess it's because he's too little, the lower divisions never get the full credit they deserve. Margarito, Mosley, Pavlik all took over their opponents' P4P place, only Vic didn't. 6 or 7 with Calzaghe out is about right, but I don't have a top10 in order anyway. He's not in the group with the very best (Hopkins, PacMan, JMM), but he's legitimately in the group of Mosley, Hatton, Calderon, Vazquez and Marquez.

D-MAC this is exactly my point. The smaller weight classes simply DO NOT get the recognition and respect they deserve. And it's not right we have such a bias towards the heavier divisions. It's only now since we have PPV worthy fighters like Arce and Vic that bring excitement, that people are now noticing the little guys.

Some people (most likely through ignorance and lack of exposure) are ranking fighters due to their popularity and over-exposure. I guarantee you if Hatton or Pavlik fought in the smaller weight classes people would barely be considering them as P4P fighters.

To be fair to "some people" the lower weights (below Bantamweight) haven't had a real dominating force since Ricardo Lopez retired, and the guys down there, while being more evenly matched and putting on high quality bouts, appear to dodge each other even more than the bigger guys do. Mijares was like a breath of fresh air, a guy who wen't looking for the big fights. If Darchinyan continues in the same vein then I'll be more than happy, but he will have to up his competition a bit above a shopworn Arce and try and get match-ups against Montiel, Donaire etc if I'm gonna rate him any higher than 8 on my list.

    1. Mijares was never #5 P4P.
    2. He is not interested to avenge that KO loss to Donaire.
    3. He tasted the canvass not just once during his bout with Gorres.
    4. It's just a matter of time before he hits the canvass again for another humiliating defeat. He is just on borrowed time!!!

Now tell me, how can you give more that what's already heaped on him as accolades???...

A unified champ at anyweight should be respected and very popular. Especially a fighter looking to risk his titles and go after big fights. Vic is great for the sport.

Darchinyan is getting all the respect he deserves these days. He was great for boxing because he was trying to fight the best. Now that he is a big draw, he will be the one calling the shots. He needs to prove that now that he's made it, he's still looking to fight the best.
