Cotto will be the pressure fighter in this fight and Jennings has had his best performances against those styles before. Also Cotto doesn't have great foot speed and he will be eating alot of jabs closing down Jennings.
Not really, G. Both Judah and Mosley had alot of success with Cotto when they fought aggressively. I'd say that Mosley had trouble exchanging with Cotto for more complex reasons having to do with his sharpness that night, and Judah started really getting smashed up when he stopped punching and tried to do alot of moving. You cannot fight Cotto on the backfoot. Absolutely not. Not unless you have Ricardo Torres type power and you can badly hurt Cotto at any given time. I'd suggest you watch any random Cotto fight for reference. Cotto is far from unbeatable, but he's virtully unbeatable when the opponent is on the backfoot.
Cotto lunges in with his whole frame, plants, and starts ripping with his combinations. I agree, he doesn't have the fastest feet, but the way in which he can propel his body around seems to surprise all his opponents.
he's a British version Gomez,.... fairly tall, decent speed, good skillset, just another Continental class featherfisted boxer don't expect much from him
Michael has got a very ameaturish style, but a very good one at that. He fights at a distance, basic stick and move, good lateral movement, and a pretty big heart. I'm a big fan of his, but I do fear for him in this fight as he does not have the pop to keep Miguel off him, and as good a mover as he is, Miguel is masterful at cutting the ring off. I see Cotto easing into the fight early on, and then coming on strong in the mid rounds, culminating in a pretty easy KO. I also believe that we will see Miguel go back to the body punching style he was renowned for earlier in his career.
Jennings has excellent footwork. Yes, he will look to move and probably circle around Cotto and look to fire the jab, though he'll probably be a bit too tentative and nervous to let his quick hands go behind it. On the basis that he is a very good mover, I'm picking him to survive 9 rounds.
Jesus why dont you just fukin blow the guy Check your PMS , Check your PMS , love me love me !!!!! blouse !
He isn't a back-pedaler ,although he may have to be in this fight. Got a good jab, good work-rate and good footwork. He certainly isn't **** but people are right in saying this is a huge step up in class. I just want to see him do well and increase his profile. Can't see him winning unfortuneatly.
There is only one way he is going, and that is backwards. I will bet the farm on that. That is his basic style against any of the moderate opposition he fought. He does not like it in close or even mid range, he's not strong in there. His style = jab and move, occasional right cross, upright. He can do this all night though, excellent fitness.
There's really no point in thinking about the style match up in this fight. This is a horrible match up for Jennings. Cotto wont have a problem. To quell your curiosity, Jennings is a counter puncher. Fights from mid-long range and moves well. He wont run but he is usually hard to find. But he's not world level. Cotto within 5.
I saw him on Shobox the night before Hatton-Tszyu and downloaded two of his most recent fights. He reminds me somewhat of Yuri Foreman. He constantly circles his opponents, firing combinations with not a whole lot of steam on them. He has a decent jab and movement, but nothing really to be in awe of. Doesn't seem like a horrible fighter, but certainly a fighter Cotto should roll if he's in true form.
