You heard it here first from knn:

Wlad's last 10 win-opponents and their median career records: 30-3
Ali: 39-13 (equals a Wlad opponent of 30-10)
Foreman: 32-6 (equals a Wlad opponent of 30-5)

How is that so much worse than Ali's? It's actually better in my opinion and especially considering that Wlad scored 7 KOs while Ali scored only 4.

(Taken from the Haye vs Klitschko off? thread)

Fighters from earlier eras are always going to be pumped up.

I honestly do not think Ali was the best ever, far from it.

I'm pretty sure Wlad, and I'm 100% certain Vitali, would beat Ali.

    Go ahead, flame on...

Head to head is one thing (and I disagree), but if you think either of their resumes are better than Ali's you're a ****ing dumb ass piece of ****.

BoxingDomain and knn, tell us how W. Klitschko would be able to beat Ali. Give us an analysis.

I actually think there is an important point in this thread, although it is poorly argued, because numbers alone don't tell the story. I am sure that when Ali reigned, fans and experts said he would never measure up to Joe Louis and that Louis or Dempsey would beat him etc. There is a degree of nostalgia in boxing not found in other sports, where it is obvious that heros from the past would never match up to current champions.

Ali fought many fighters (and struggled with some of them, like Douglas, Cooper) who would be small cruisers today. Frazier would not be champion today, nor would he ever trouble the Klitschkos the way he troubled Ali. There were some big men in boxing in the past, but the modern athletic 6'5 - 6'8 type like Lewis, Bowe, Klitschko is something that just didn't exist in previous eras.

Provided both fighters show up at their best, this could be a boring fight for several rounds, I believe neither fighter would land much at first. Ali could evade most of what Wlad throws but what could he land himself? Perhaps a few jabs, but Wlad is very hard to hit with his height and guard up. Ali often fought with a height and reach advantage, he never needed to develop body punching skills. At some point I see Wlad landing that short left hook and his is certainly harder than the left hooks from Cooper or Frazier that floored Ali. Ali gets up but now he has to take chances to win the fight and gets hit more. Wlad might very well win a decision by landing the harder punches and scoring one or two knockdowns.

Wlad will definitely give Ali a hard time. I will not rule out Wlad beating Ali.

But IMO Ali toys with Vitali. He is just too robotic to beat Ali.
