You needed to have a British fighter to win this competition.

I thought Barrera/Sanchez was a better pick than one of the 8 winner, to be frank.

Froch was in one of them. :patsch

hey guys, i read on here alot but never post but i feel you are being a bit harsh on Setanta. We have to remember we are going through tough times at the moment and that effects companies like Setanta who are very small fish compared to a monster like sky. I would imagine as people cut back they are more likely to cut their Setanta before their sky which is bad news for us boxing fans who love Setanta. I love boxing and have been a big fan of the sport for more than 25 years but we have realise that although the sport maybe in health state with the standard of fighters we are producing it is suffering big time and losing out to other sports where new fans are concerned. Just take the petention for a boxing channel i dont think that got over 1000 hits and maybe some of us would of signed up more than once. Its sad to say the sport is dying and if a major TV network does pick up so fights for a prime time telly slot it will be harder for the sport to grow. All the young people i know are into MMA and this is where the future lies for fighting sport as hardcore boxing fans fade away unless something changes. i push the sport so much and always invite friends over for big fights to try and get more people to watch boxing but its hard not that i dont have friends but the fact that the world is football mad.
Just for the record i loved the fantasy fight comp but i would say that as i won :yep get in there Andries-Thompson

i agree mark. without setanta we would have very little fights from america - only sky box office ones. setanta have a smaller budget than sky yet bring us alot more world action than sky. how happy would people be if they only saw domestic action each week. dont get me wrong domestic action can be sensetional at times but we need american fights as well.

have just been looking on the top rank website. the only fights they have listeed as coming up are pavlik v rubio , the cotto fight and hatton v pac (will propably be sbo).

i know their is other cards coming up but they are not listed on top ranks site yet. i am sure once they are listed on top rank , setanta will confirm them. as an earlier poster said setanta are not going to be able to give us every fight we want. can you imagine if we only had friday fight and a few box office shows to watch. sometimes friday fight night can be good but lately its been brutal.

i feel bad for Setanta who tired really hard with the boxing be it giving us fans a weekly show or live events from the US. The show they put together the night of the Calzaghe-Jones fight was the best presented boxing show i have ever seen on British TV as it seemed to geared towards us fans rather than the slick safe sky efforts. But as i said before the credit crunch and now the loss of the football contract is going to hit them which is a shame as it has been pretty good while its lasted. I cant see Setanta dumping boxing as they do quite well from it but they will have to cut back just like everyone else is at the moment and this is sad.

People should get off Setanta's back and look at the other networks who haven't done much for boxing recently.

Welcome to ESB Mark. Congrats on the DVD mate :) I was lucky enough to win one in the Calzaghe meets the queen comp hehe

I agree with you on Setanta mate, for all they charge us they are far better than Sky as far as boxing goes.

Just think of the great fights setanta give us already, i hope theres lots more to come. Without Setanta i would be watching fights on a shitty stream on a small screen.

i guess thats you Woody and i couldnt agree more. It was sad really that the recent Murray-McAllistar bout was shown of ITV4 which was the kind of good domestic tear up that draws in the casual sports fan and wins the sport new fans. but yes the other channels need to step up and show more boxing.

i've got to say - in the build up to calzaghe v jones - i really enjoyed the roy jones story programme. if they could do more of this type of programme on other boxers it would be great , especially when they might go 2 or 3 weeks without showing live boxing at some stage.

thanks, i have always come here to read but have always been, sorry, a doghouse regular so never really posted. well done yourself because you get more emails read out than me so to win a prize is always a bonus and a complete surprise for me.

i wish sky would drop the prizefighter stuff and give us so decent FFN because so far this year its been poor. Looking forward to the Hayemaker bill from liverpool in March on setanta and with Groves and Maguire looking like good prospects they could give so more decent domestic shows this year

Yeah, ITV at least trys when they have the fights but the BBC is a bloody disgrace. Sky has gone downhill lately and are only interested in Hatton/Khan & Prizefighter. ITV might pack it in if they lose Froch next?

the thing about the Jones - Calzaghe night was how well put together the show mixing decent clips and action with Barry working well along side Buncey. There was none of hype and crap that sky served up and it was just boxing people talking boxing and as a fan a treat to watch including barry being blown away by Witney Houston ha ha ha
