Would any Calzaghe nuthuggers like to tell me something about Mikkel Kessler?

Any boxing fan with half a brain knows Kessler is a good fighter but has not proven to be great. It is a good win for Joe but it doesnt make his resume outstanding. I'm just tired of threads being started about "Calzaghe nuthuggers" or anyones nuthuggers. People have the right to admire and look up to their favorite fighters whether we agree with what they say or not.

Kessler is a very good fighter and he made the Calzaghe fight worth watching most of the aggression and power shots were thrown by him and i think he would win a rematch.
I kind of see what you are getting at with his resume but he has at least beaten guys in the top 10 unlike most of Joes usuall opossition. He certainly is a better fighter than Lacy.Nothing on Calzaghes resume really impresses me he struggled against all the top level fighters he came up against. He got lucky against Hopkins and Rob Reid, Jones was way past it Brewer gave him problems and as i said Kessler made thier fight watchable,he was trying to mix it up and throw big shots,Joe saw the danger and resorted to the thousand slap per round tactics the judges seem to love so much. The Lacy fight was ok but even when the guy was out on his feet Joe still managed to go to the score cards. To be honest i thought Calzaghe was very boring.

from round 5 onwards joe calzaghe boxed mikkel kessler silly. there were no slapping tactics required. he dropped to the outside and jabbed kesslers head off and pounded him to the body, stunning him badly twice in the 8th round. he swept the majority of the mid to late rounds by utilising high class boxing skills, not slapping tactics.

  7. Actually he has a resume that more than reflects his abilities as a fighter.

  8. To be fair, Mundine was winning that fight until he got clocked in the 10th. He had only been a pro for something like 16 months or so. Andrade was fighting 4 rounders (if I recall correctly) 16 months into his career as a pro. So your statement of what would never have happened is a bit duplicitous without context.

  9. He sure didn't school Mundine. With the exception of Hank Meijers' bogus scorecard he won but it was no schooling. If anything it was competitive and didn't demonstrate that Kessler was out of Mundine's league at all. Similar general level for these two. Not saying that's bad at all.

So basically people who slag off Calzaghe for being a protected fighter should look at Taylor as a better example of one.

It sure looked ike the normal Calzaghe thousand slap per round tactic to me.And if i remember right Kessler gave him some big hits in the 12th round and must surely have got that round on the cards.

Do you actually understand WHY Calzaghe has to resort to those tactics?
Calzaghe was originally a serious power puncher. During his early carrer he was a KO artist.

Broken hands forced him to adapt. How many other boxers do you know who could have transcended so effectively from skilled power puncher to speedy counterpiuncher?

  13. If you've (obviously) more recently begun to follow his career don't buy into that fiction. He got KOs because the opponents were bums. If you could check their professions today you'd find them all working at the UK Quickie Mart. "KO Artist" ... lmfao.

Kessler's team isn't really innocent of this kind've stuff neither, though. Remember the proposed match between Kessler and Miranda? I'm not claiming Kessler was ducking or was scared of Miranda by any means, but he could've gotten a little more exposure if he KTFO Miranda rather than some guy named Danilo Haussler.
