So ultimately, when we get to the crux of the matter, the reason Juan Manuel Marquez will never be held in such high esteem as Pac, Morales, and Barrera is because instead of stalking or pursing his opponent, he draws mistakes from them? I don't think so.

The reason he is not held in such high esteem as those three at the moment is because he does not have a comparable resume to any of them. That is all.

 

resume is a result of matchmaking efforts. matchmaking efforts on the other hand is based on economics, money matters. to state that he does not have a comparable resume is just scratching the surface.

it begs the question why? promoters are not really excited to field pure counterpunchers as main fight because it will be a sure bore. all the people are in it to make money, pure and simple. and pac unarguably made jmm a bigger name but other than that, its difficult to sell jmm as a marquee fighter like pbf, pac, dlh, tyson etc.

if you have marquee name, it draws the crows, therefore ensuring bigger purses and then attracts other top fighters.
