We are only talking about Dawson because Pavlik got beat, for that reason the fight is lacking something for me.

I think if joe fights dawson he could go the same as eubank did against him when he was on the up

Haha, easy points win against the undefeated Joe Calzaghe. You're having a giraffe mate.

Id watch the fight but i dont think it would be that good.Dawson would come to make a fight of it and Joe would come to win another points bore by throwing thousands of slaps.I dont think Dawson would be able to knock joe out and if a fight goes to the cards in a Calzaghe fight Joe will get the nod

I could be wrong but I think he would've shut a lot of people up by fighting Dawson but there's no need, I think he did the right thing for him. Dawson may be the next big thing at light heavy but he's hardly the next Roy Jones. Thats total crap that Calzaghe needs to fight Dawson before he retires, Dawson needs him, not the other way round. By your reckoning then fighters must keep going until they are dethroned? If the money wasn't worth it to him then you can't blame him. Anyway, Dawson was occupied with the Tarver re match and now he's injured, he may aswell stay retired and build the demand.

Dawson can't fight Joe unless he beats Bhop, RJJ, Kessler or Froch.

even JC fought and beat Dawson, there would be a similar thread to this one the week after.

What were your predictions before Calzaghe - Lacy and Calzaghe - Kessler?

Eubank was still in his prime, you don't jump two weightclasses and almost win the title when you are shot. Kessler and Lacy were undefeated belt holders, favored by many to "expose" Joe. Hopkins was still good enough to trash Pavlik....which great fighter in their prime has Dawson beaten???

Beating Hopkins, even narrowly, and Kessler are better wins than beating Tarver. Trashing lacy certainly beats getting lucky against journeyman Johnson. I like Dawson, he is exciting, but he has a lot to accomlish before he can be seen on the same level as Joe.

Agreed. Much as I like Dawson, he can't even beat a 40-year-old 12-loss journeyman without controversy so quite how he's gonna do that with an undefeated p4p great defies belief!

I agree, Dawson is riding the wave of beating Tarver, and that's the only reason people want him to fight JC.

Like many other have wrote, Dawson have done nothing yet to earn that fight! and what goes for Joe, if he beats Dawson, people will just start pull out another name again and again! pointless.. let the guy retire in peace, and start look at other good match up for Dawson in the next couple years!

do you realise how stupid you sound? the brightest young talent in the division with wins over a handful of other top ten ranked LHW's didn't deserve a shot at the champ?

i want people to explain why he doesn't deserve a shot.
