Why would Roach want Pacquiao-Mosley

You're first line had me s******ing. Phenom? Cut above the rest? He went life and death with Marquez twice, and lost to past prime Erik Morales. He is not a cut above the rest. That was prime Roy Jones Jr, but Pacquiao's fight with Hatton is going to shock a lot of people, and a rematch with Juan not so much - mainly because we already know Marquez is the superior technical fighter.

 

You're right....power will be in favor of Shane and Cotto BUT....PAC isn't what anyone would call a "light hitter". He's got power and pop in both hands. Explosiveness is on PAC's side which can cause havoc for his oppoents who are caught off guard!

You're absolutely right about Shane needing to "TIME" PAC. And with the experience and still very quick hands at 37 the possiblity is there for sure. But the problem I see is that the foot work and constant pressue that is all over the place with PAC will give Shane and Cotto problems finding their mark FLUSH. PAC darts in and out from every which angle and circles. To find PAC ...FLUSH is a puzzle that is even harder to put together now than ever before.

I see shane as a bigger threat to PAC than Cotto.....B/c mentally Shane will be able to weather the storm....loose early rounds and come back late with the kind of mental composure and toughness Shane has as a great fighter. Cotto on the other hand can loose early rounds and let that snow ball....creating a hole he won't be able to get out of. For me Shane and PAC is the biggest threat although I'd like to see Cotto vs PAC more.

 

PAC is a special talent and fighter....like the Nards, Shanes, DLH's and Leonards of the boxing world. IMO...at this point no better, no less. But the talent, athletic ability and even more so his "CHAMPIONSHIP SPIRIT" are things that you have or you don't. PAC has them and his preparations for his professional career choice elevates him past his peers....JMM included.

Lets be real....JMM at the time, EM and MAB were all working with KEY advantages that with simple logic would have 99.9% of boxing fans, experts and media to believe PAC would loose...and loose badly. There is a element of PAC that allows him to elevate and execute the kind of performance that is special. PAC beat 3 legend on pure heart and desire to win!

The skills were ever so RAW but the speed, power combined with explosiveness allowed him to overcome odds that were stacked well against him. Sure they were close fights in some instances but in boxing skills pay the bills and if you don't have them you days are numbered. PAC is working with a different set of laws which is not up for discussion. He's still beatable....he's still less polished than guys like Shane and JMM but there is no denying the kid LOVES fighting and he puts every ounce of his heart into what he does....and maybe that is why he's able to overcome obstacles that are seemingly impossible.

Name another fighter who started @ 112 and went to fight @ 147 and won mutliple belts and awards along the way? none... if that ain't special then i don't know what is.


Your so called superior technical fighter Marquez (who has stylistic advantage over pac) went to hell and dated with the canvas multiple times when he fought pac and OFFICIALLY lost. :deal

You can harness skills through practice but you can't teach speed and power. Even if you smack the facts in selfkill's face he won't see it... coz he is either blinded by his love for JMM or hate for pac that all he does is discredit pac to make his idol look good.

 

well, there obviously looking for the biggest fights possible. but they need not to worry about mosley for now. pacquaio may not even get past hatton.

 

if i were Roach, there is no way i would fight this version of mosley. it was obvoius that he was on the "clear". We haven't seen that version of mosley in ten years!!

 

Right on bro....JMM, EM and MAB all deserve to be held in high regard...but so does PAC. It seems that the passion of some fans overshawdow logic when it comes to PAC. Its a shame b/c he does what he does in the sport very well and IMO takes it to a level only matched by the VERY best. Appreciation is not given...its earned and PAC has done more than enough to "EARN" that respect and appreciation by his peers and by the fans.

But if PAC beat Hatton, then he beat Mosley ... wouldn't Hopkins be the natural opponent ...

That's exactly my point Marquez was clearly the more superior boxer and should have easily beaten Pac but he didn't; he was even kdowned not just once. Imagine going to war using bow and arrows against guns and bombs, what do you expect will happen to you? Get a draw or even win against the enemy? It's unthinkable right? Now what will happen if you bring with you a gun and some explosives the same way Pac is discovering additional weapons he can use?

That's what I meant when I said Pac is a cut above the rest, he somehow manages to win inspite of clearly having the inferior weapons.
